I see you've moved from London to the wilds of Wales/Scotland/Ireland. (Or did someone leave a bathroom tap running?)

Rotarua, New Zealand. the transport for the very last part of the trip was Maori piggyback, and here is the triumphant arrival,

You look very happy in that pic, Michael. And now I just looked at the second pic. It looks like an awesome spot. Is that your son there with you?

Clearly you have yet to figure out how to edit your posts without getting an edit line. I have now figured out how to do this, as you have witnessed. How I do it you will never knowAli, of course it is. I never suggested otherwise. what areyou talking about?

Now THAT awesome photo I got
! What stances by two men, at the edge of a cliff, atop a cloud-covered mountain? Or, are those waterfalls behind you?
I thought maybe I didn't get the first one because I'm at work. Since, they both seem to come from the same place, I'll trying again on it.
Yes ~ You do look happy ~ AND you look proud
! I love your son's bare feet. I love bare feet ~ my own included. Leonard's, too, as YdF [or who was that other one, way back?] will confirm
. Georgeous young man there...
[I mean men, men ~ of course, I mean men
!]

he may come to Berlin and I want you to have the courage to confront him, face to face, feet to feet, and say "David, you have bear's feet". I warn you that he is a highly trained killer (4 months National Service in the Danish Army).
I take this opportunity to say goodbye now.
ps. waterfalls
Hi Michael. Blimey, you have such beautiful children (are you sure they are yours?). I like the way your dog supports the same team as you, that's handy. What about Dylan? Has he been indoctrinated yet?
Let me know when someone has decided what the poetry comp is about. I have no idea how to write pomes. Can I just arrange prose one line under another? That is a serious question.
Must dash...

TO JUDGE AND BE JUDGED
Message from Peter Dawson (written last night):
I'd be happy to take on the job of judging this poetry competition. It will also be a way of getting to know some of you. Of course, I have the advantage of not knowing you, except for Lizzie (who won't enter this competition, because I'd be very biased).
Who am I? Well, in terms of Leonard Cohen events, I am new on the scene; in terms of Leonard as poet and singer/songwriter, I have been around since 1969; in terms of judging poetry, although I am a 'dabbler' in writing and wouldn't call myself a poet, I am knowledgeable about poetry and can offer reasonable critiques.
I would suggest that people send up to three entries, and that the poems should have a Leonard Cohen connection. I will read them, ponder, evaluate and decide which is to be awarded the accolade of entry into the Berlin Event booklet. Fame and glory for someone.
If you agree to my being judge and jury, entries can be sent to: peterdawson68@hotmail.com

we have had a few poetry comps. here before. one of the essentials is anonymity so what we always do is have an interthingy. the poems are pm'd from this site (or could be emailed) to that person and she/he has a record of the writers.
she then sends them on to the Judge who therefore on receipt does not know the writer (although we can't stop him judging)
that way, the interthingy, Lizzie for example, can enter as well, perhaps disguising her style and not slagging off Leonard to much in comparison with Peter Dawson.
perhaps you would be kind enough to agree to that set-up and if Lizzie does agree to interthingy for us, we have a comp, subject to.....
a topic.
can others respond whether "a Leonard Cohen connection" is enough or whether we prefer a narrower topic.
my vote- I don't mind. I haven't got a particular topic in mind yet.
regards
michael
Including Henning sure sounds like a good plan to me
~ with his being Coordinator of the project as a whole.
[Diane ~ Not too sure on this, but it seems that regarding your prose lines placed beneath each other, that everyone has their own idea of poetry, of which there are many varieties to begin with ~ I'd say do whatever you feel is best for you, and see how well Peter and Henning receive it... or take a cram course in poetry, even if it's self-taught
.]
Narrowing the field on the topic, at least somewhat, I think helps to get people's brains moving in some direction vs. sitting stalled with a blank page.
There's another person's opinion.
