IT'S ANOTHER POETRY COMP.
well, the first announcement in that sometimes weary process, anyway.
ok, hands up all those who wish to insert their piece in my booklet? Oh, the adult content sculpture thread is over isn't it, so let me explain it more clearly and cleanly
the Berlin organising mob, Herr Franz, Herr Gonn etc, have kindly invited the winner of a new poetry comp. here to be printed alongside Ali's famous short story.
so can we start having
1. suggestions for subject
2. volunteers for judging and interthingying
I reckon it will probably take us 2 weeks to sort this part and then another 2/3 until the close and the acclaim of the proud winner.
as usual the procedures can be tweaked once we have the officials in place.
regards
Michael "2 dogs" Wolkind.

Michael, I have a few infamous short stories, but I think you'll find it is Ali who has the famous one.
As there seems to be a fad for posting rather large pictures on this forum at the moment, how about The Photograph as a subject?
Lizzie, I have never met you, but I think I have heard your name mentioned a time or two around here. Hi!

hiya Lizzie, hope you are doing fine.Lizzie Not-so-Madder wrote:Hi, Michael. Would be happy to help with this - although if I help I suppose I can't enter!! Perhaps I should nominate Peter, who's an excellent poetry judge (and then he can pick me as the winner!) No, seriously, would be happy to help with judging. I do a lot of poetry assessment work.
Lizzie
please do ask Peter, thanks!
why don't you be our intershammos, you pass on the entries anonymously.
payment is exactly the same as for the Judge.
question to people- last time we had a panel of judges to even out quirks of opinion (such as some bastard who doesn't like my writing, to take a wholly random example),
should we do that again?
should we go just for Pete?
should we have a panel of people all named Pete?
should we make bad puns about how we compete?
should the topic be "my new dog called Dylan" with marks for authenticity, reality, truth and personal knowledge of the subject?
or should the topic be "partially carbonized vegetable matter, usually mosses, found in bogs and used as fertilizer and fuel".
Hi Lizzie ~
Great to see you here
!!! Welcome
!
If you judge, well, of course ~ that goes without saying. If you interthingy, however, you can compete. But, it sounds like you are competento in the judging department, soooo.... Lizzie and Peter ~ a panel of two? More? Perhaps, judge this year; compete in two?
Geez-oh-Pete, Michael, if it's to be about a dog ~ at least let it be Lorca's dog, with whom Leonard plays
!
If I had time, I'd interthingy... however, no such luck. Great idea ~ the poetry comp.
How about "Next We Take Berlin" ~ [what it means] through Leonard's eyes.
I feel that for the Event[s], any Comp theme should definitely be Leonard related.
The anthology idea is great for, perhaps, after the Event, and to include those poems from the Comp, along with the many, other lovely ones.

I agree wholeheartedly with you, Lizzy. Yes, I was thinking of an anthology afterwards. I've recently helped with an anthology of poems by a women's poetry group, which has proved very successful. I'm thinking on the hoof here, but seems to me that it could be a worthwhile project. (Looking forward to seeing you in Berlin, too.)

Nice photo, Michael - apart from looking slightly colder, you haven't changed a bit in the last month!mickey_one wrote:http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2006-1/1 ... G_0417.jpg

Yes ~ I think it'd be great, having an Anthology ~ either of Leonard-related poems, prose, short stories... or of the same, to include Leonard-related, but the jist being 'by Leonard Cohen fans who also love to write.' My preference would still be that they be Leonard-related, but then that's just me. Of course, you could have the 'Leonard-related' section, and then all the others. I've read so many pleasurable poems here ~ it would be great to have an anthology, in hand and readily available, to share favourites with others, as well as reflect on them yourself. It'd be a great feeling, in that these would be by people you 'know' or know
.
Well, I just realized I forgot to check out Michael in his backyard... off to do that.
Yes ~ Me, too, regarding you, in Berlin
. You have such great energy! Not just the quantity but the quality
.
