just listen to me for a minute. leonard mocked the lady by saying "you can stick your little pins in that voodoo doll; i'm very sorry, baby - it doesn't look like me at all!" am i right? ok. now, let's back up a little bit to near the beginning of the song. he admits "i ache in the places where i used to play!" what does that mean? well, it is obvious to me that the lady had stuck a pin into the doll's genital region. what mystifies me is how a person can claim that a voodoo curse is not working on them while simultaneously complaining of an uncomfortable pain. but the real point is that a voodoo doll does NOT have to look like the target, and 'tower of song' goes a long way to proving exactly that.

I am aware of the current propaganda designed to distance voodoo from black magic/witchcraft. It is an effort by modern acupuncturists to devenomise the idea that the insertion of needles into a body (or pins into an effigy) can be associated with the casting of an evil spell. The fact remains, however, that voodoo and acupuncture are two cheeks on the same asshole, one makes the curse and the other takes the purse - regardless of what can be read in our manipulated media. Yet the point is that Leonard, the intuitive that he is, mentioned voodoo. He seemed to believe that a doll made in his image could be instrumental in the manifestation of a paranormal occurrence. He was loosely echoing Shakespeare's: "There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy." A woman sticking pins into a voodoo doll's codpiece could potentially cause Leonard to feel an ache in his groin, the place where he "used to play". He erroneously assumed that the doll had to look like him.
