well, it was good enough for leonard when he wrote "you stand there so nice in your blizzard of ice". but listen to me for a minute, karren, my little cowslip. this poetry column is supposed to be for people who are good with words, but i seldom see anyone in here who possesses even the most fundamental knowledge of language. he and i are both bilingual, fully competent in two languages, yet all i see in here are semi-illiterates who have difficulty in mastering even one - their mother-tongue. in another column he has gone as far as to announce that he doesn't want to meet any more fans, especially not damned 'poets', so that tells me he has been down to look at the quality of writing here - and what he saw certainly was not nice!

Well, the first thing that came to mind in response to this statement Dear Geoffrey, (in terms of speaking entirely for myself) - is that this may well be a case of ''touché!''. Indeed hahaha!!
But should this deter one? I mean - really?
In the great goldfish bowl that this life can be, should it make a fish become cold and afraid and cynical? To use up it's few years seeking to hide within the false polyresin castle of life, and behind the plastic Elodea Densa of cowardice? - Is this the best way to spend it's short lived energies? Really?
Hiding behind it's own fear of itself, and what it may actually look like in the glare of the open daylight?
Should it be afraid to sing a song in case - it don't quite get the words right?
Frightened away from mourning or indeed celebrating existence because of a structured set of rules about how to say it!?
Does everyone have to be amazing at that which they love to do?
Ok, I suppose I have made my point.

While I may hold the words within your statement in some regard, I also believe that the other side of the coin is valid too, am I wrong about this? (That is not necessarily a rhetorical question by the way.)
Not just one side - but both sides deserve equal respect and for different reasons - well that's what I think. Is there no swaying you Dear Geoffrey whom I adore? Are you standing firm on this or wot? I'm in heaven when you smile so let it all hang out.

Yes I have a slight hangover this morning, but the night before the morning after made it worth it

Firstly it’s nice to see you’ve got over the fruit fetish, I see I have now become your little cowslip, though I much prefer it’s Latin name, Primula. Veris. Much nicer I think! …

So from your little outburst, which I cannot be held responsible for, I understand that
you don’t like the poetry posted here… Well I think there are some wonderful writers that post here, all different styles and abilities… It would be very boring round here if people stopped posting their poetry because people like you said it wasn’t good enough…And isn’t that the point, a place to express yourself and maybe even learn from the constructive criticism received in the posts,(that’s criticism that can help someone improve, unlike your brand of destructive criticism, that can totally destroy someone’s confidence. Just in case you weren’t clear on that point).

I suppose we should be grateful that you only described the posters here as
semi illiterate, well at least you don’t think we’re completely illiterate so maybe there is hope for us yet…

I really don’t know why someone as self-important as you even bothers with us in this little corner of the Forum… I’m sure you have much better things to do…Polishing those horns, stoking the fires, purchasing a few souls maybe!

Ah well I've said all i wish to say and I’m bored with playing with you now Geoffrey! So I will leave you to play with yourself, and I hope you enjoy the experience… See even someone as semi-illiterate as me, knows that the only thing that will ever cheat you out of the last word Geoffrey is an echo….
