Yesterday I just read the posts of the Caen thread and realized that goldstei will go to Strasbourg and that he needs some help with the public transport in Caen. I thought maybe I could help him. That's why I asked where he will stay.

I was talking about "The Partisan" in Nantes.

Isolde

Sorry, yes I know Isolde but I simply emphasised that "The Partisan" was really emotional at the Barca concert and for me, more so than Nantes. ;-)
I guess it all started for me sometime around Christmas 1967 and now, goodness me, it's.........2018 and over fifty years later.

I was not at the concert in Barcelona, so I can't compare. But the Barcelona concert must have been very emotional anyway and I wish I could have been there. So never mind.

Isolde

BTW will you go to Krakau?

We really would love to but this year we have so many things going on that sadly we won't be able to.

How does the latest news change any of your plans? A bit soon for me to decide, but immediate thought is things being grim financially here, I might have to give a miss to a long weekend in Caen without Len and reschedule what/if I can. Hope to see you all in Caen in September, and who knows, maybe Marseilles.

Good luck all,
Bruno

I have just telephoned the Hotel Ibis in Caen Centre and although we had bought and paid for 2 rooms at their early booking price, which come with no remboursement, they have changed them to the 14th & 15th September, without charge.

So we are now ready again for September and nearer the date hopefully we can then sort out a meet up, along with a lunch, as was planned for the original date.

Just to add to Vicomte's prompt that its well worth trying to rearrange dates - I've managed to reschedule both travel (for only a very small surcharge) and hotel (no charge, despite the booking conditions excluding changes). For this last I just emailed explaining the concert was delayed and they were happy to oblige. Couldn't have been the quality of my written French, as you may remember I had trouble making sense of the Caen bus map!

All best,
B

When you say travel, do you mean French trains and /or Eurostar??

I was only booked on the ferry through the Brittany Ferries website, which made it really simple to change the date of travel. I'd hope eurostar had something similar - but otherwise a phone call to them on Monday should sort it out. Good luck,

Well done Vicomte for managing to change your hotel booking. I guess it helped being able to call them and discuss the situation in French. I got absolutely nowhere with the Novotel in Lille. They simply told me that I'd chosen a non-refundable, non-modifiable rate and so my booking could not be changed. They were completely unmoved by the exceptional circumstances I explained to them.

Wendy,

If you want to PM me your name and reservation details, hotel contact details along what date(s) you booked for and what date (s) you need now, I will have a try for you, no guarantees of course but might be worth a go, perhaps?

Definitely the 15th as jarkko has shown in his link.

viewtopic.php?f=44&t=19806

And Carrefour also show:

Pop-Rock-Electro

Plus réservable

GERARD DROUOT PRODUCTIONS(l.6-13623/3-1002117) & AEG LIVEPRESENTENTCE CONCERT

BUT then they go on to make an error to show what you have posted about the 19th September but it is the 15th September in Caen..

Just to bring this back to the top.

Hi,

Sorry about delay but Vicomtesse and I have been in UK at various times due to family reasons!

Anyway, 3 of us will be staying at the Ibis in the Place Courtonne in Caen Centre. If anyone fancies a lunch and/or a chat on the day of the concert (on 15th September of course), would it be possible to meet, say at around 12.30 - 1pm at this hotel? Or indeed wherever someone else may suggest? There are restos in the area and perhaps if I knew if anyone else was interested by the 13th, I can ask the locals on the 14th (day we arrive in Caen) where they suggest might be the best value and reserve for however many wish to partake, possibly just us 3  ;-)

Alternatively, a meet a couple of hours or so before the concert at same place or? I leave it open to debate.

Regards
