I'am going to Caen. Anybody else is going??? Please, please, please Let's dream together
2009 Budapest
2010 Zagreb, Gothenburg, Florence, St. Margarethen, Bratislava, Las Vegas x2 2011, 2015 Ύδρα 2012 Ghent x5, Helsinki, Dublin x2, Verona 2013 Roma, Lucca, Vienna, London 2015 Viladrau
I'm going, with partner - but children still unconvinced!
Hopefully some French friend can suggest an atmospheric place for a meet-up, I don't know Caen at all.
As for dreams, there'll be Passing Through, Came so far, Don't Pass Me By, Alexandra Leaving and So long for old times sake, with the remaining four and a half hours nothing but new material and poetry! Dino will abandon his smooth ways and take up the uilleann pipes. All followed by a new final blessing...the announcement of the full 27 night UK/Eire itinerary to follow Mr Cohen's 2010 world holiday.
But good health and just another gig is dream enough.
Hi, All....we are coming late to this party. Having just seen LC here in Florida last month, we had not checked for new tour dates until just now. We hope to be able to get tickets either in Caen or Lille. Wondering whether anyone has ordered directly off the Zenith website (Caen)....and, if so, did you find options for getting your tickets ahead of time ?
We're not usually reluctant to use the "will-call" scenario, but living so far away, we'd love to have tickets in hand before beginning our trip.
FNAC was another option I considered, as we are comfortable picking up tickets there, but their website is really sluggish today and I ended up just getting frustrated.
Would appreciate any comments re: ordering tickets and getting them ahead of time. Hope to see you all there !
I ordered my ticket on the website recommended by leonardcohenfiles so "billetterie.gdp.fr". It was quite easy, I payed it by credit card. BUT I can get the ticket only 1 hour before the show. I think is would be the same on the site of zenith as well. But actually it's not a problem because you can (you HAVE TO)stamp the confirmation letter and show it at the "Production" desk. In my opinion it's a very safe way, don't worry.
Anyway I'm looking forward to see HIM again in France I've just seen him on youtube performe I'm your man in San Jose:
If he was so lovely, energic and passionate at the last show of a long tiring tour, I imagine how cool he will be after a prety long rest

Gallina...thanks so much for your reply. I'm sure you are correct in that any of the recommended online outlets are completely safe to order from, as long as one is careful to keep/bring the required proof of purchase to the venue. So I just need to get it done----hoping I have not procrastinated too long !
You are also spot on about LC's amazing energy and vitality. (LOVE that vid !) Ours was to be the second concert since his mini-collapse in Bilbao. Not to worry, though----we were astounded, for example, by the number of times he knelt or crouched down, then back up so smoothly and gracefully. Hard to find many people that age (or younger) who can do that so effortlessly---all the while making inimitable music !!
Thanks again for your comments and advice---hope to see you in Caen !
i'll be in caen. anyone going should be sure to visit the bayeux tapestry, which, amazingly enough, is in nearby bayeux. it would be a worth a trip even without our friend LC; with the Caen concert, it's an incredible bonus.
Concert tickets ordered.....check.
Train tickets ordered RT Paris-Caen...check.
Now to the business of arranging our air from Florida. No worries---we have the important bits: Leonard Cohen tickets.....hallelujah !
PS Thanks again, Gallina, for your encouragement to order off the LC website.

I'm hoping to go to Bayeux, St. Malo and perhaps Guernsey, myself. Possibly also Rouen if there's enough time.
if you're coming all the way from vermont, i hope you're going to at least the lille concert also--it's a short trip from there to the medieval jewel belgian town of bruges

I'm going to Lille too, yeah - just didn't mention it, what with this being about Caen, haha. I was thinking about going into Belgium, haven't decided yet. I'd be relying on trains and such, haven't looked into that yet.
well, if you're going to lille, you can get by train to bruges in less than an hour; i'm going on to the next concert at strasbourg, quite a distance from lille, but i discovered a very cheap air france flight from lille to strasbourg (train takes about five hours or so, which is not that long, but the flight is about the same price as i recall)
I've just had lunch in St. Malo today and see that you would like to visit there; well I would certainly recommend it but don't forget Le Mont St. Michel; just about the most important tourist spots in the region. It is probably more romantic at it's base looking up to it than actually being on it but having said that it is a 'must to do ' before you die! The other places I would recommend is Dinan, a medieval town about 20mins. inland from St Malo. There is a bus service between the two if you don't have car hire although I would recommend it as France is quite big and rural. The buses round here are regular to St. Malo and Dinan 4 times a day!!!
While you are staying in Caen you must go to the 2nd. world war graves and battle sites. Especially St. Mere Eglise where the 101st airbourne division parachuted into. I would definitely recommend Bayeux as well.

Thanks for the suggestion of Dinan, Vicomtesse! I know that part of France is pretty rural, and I imagine hiring a car would be good, but I cannot, as I don't drive. I figure I can probably get around fairly well via public transportation, but we'll find out, haha.
