Wow, second Chicago show, isn't that the bees knees, lol.
Yeah to everyone who couldn't get tickets for the 5th.
I'd be a sad woman if I'd not found ours.
I don't know if I missed the presale date already, but to anyone interested, I have always thrown back tickets over and over, generally up to 45 minutes, to get really good seats. Always, it's like our ticketmaster mojo or something. Best available, no specified anything.
So not saying it is worth the gamble, but it's how we ended up in the second row main floor on the isle instead of the very back very left of the balcony...*ahem* nosebleed seats.
I still haven't had time to ask my Irish authority about watering holes, but I am told from others that the food at Monk's is just ok, and I remember the beer selection seemed non-existent (am another very picky import beer drinker), so I think Emerald might be a good choice so far. WIll ask and see if there is something a little less crowded with a little more ambiance, but it may just be my final thought as well.
Marie, thanks again for the incredibly generous offer of allowing fans to park in your neighborhood. We'll be driving down that day from Madison and I think that we will be hard pressed just to get there in time for a meet-up near the theater. Anne & I are hoping to meet you, Steve & Ann, & Alice plus any others who are interested. We can hardly wait. Even though this will be the 5th concert that we have seen, our enthusiasm has not abated.
Yes, thanks, looking forward to seeing everyone's eager faces. 5 LC shows? May I touch your hem respectively, lol?
I may have friends coming up the east coast, but they are staying downtown as well with their kids, we may possibly want to be near the venue early to show them some things, so the offer still stands for free safe hospitable parking for out-of-towners and meet up here with quality food and wine or cordials is still up in the air and would be aesthetically pleasing to all involved (and mugging-free, gotta love our little hamlet)---though we are a suburb, so yes, the driving from town to here back downtown is time consuming and I wouldn't recommend it without spending the night in the area. Very uncomplicated journey on HWY 55 for Chicagoland, yet a lot of time wasted and drinking and driving not recommended. We live in a historic village roughly ten-twelve miles from downtown, but this is Chicago, so it takes a while unless you are on the train, which is about 20 minutes to Union Station proper.
Will chime in with some more pub and eatery opinions in the next week--we're a bit wacky busy right now as St. Patty's Day approacheth!
Hey look, I wrote a book.
