Just be careful not to refresh TOO many times. I've been locked out of Ticketmaster for being too eager.
Good luck!

Yes, I expect they have both of those, but there is at least one Irish pub not far away which might suit your liquid-fortification needs :-) I was introduced to The Exchequer on my very first visit to Chicago about 20 years ago by a Chicago native. I've been back every time I visit Chicago, which has come to be about twice a year since I moved to the West Michigan area 11 or so years ago.

We ended up going ahead and getting tickets to the Detroit show. They were available, and we are equidistant between Chicago and Detroit, so the decision wasn't really a difficult one since we visit Chicago on a regular basis. It would have been nice to meet-up with some of you in Chicago however. At the Toronto show (the added one), it felt like everyone in the vicinity was there for Leonard, I hope you get the same buzz at the Chicago shows.

A couple general suggestions for those of you traveling to Chicago who haven't done so before:

1) The commuter rail extends a LONG way. So you can save yourself a lot of driving stress by riding the rail in (it goes to the Grant Park area, an easy walk to the Chicago Theatre). We park way way out in Michigan City indiana and take the commuter rail in, but there are plenty of other commuter rail stations to choose from. People often leave vehicles at the nicer stations overnight.

2) Get a real Chicago-style deep-dish pizza at a local pizza shop (like the Exchequer), not a chain. Warning: this may ruin your enjoyment of any other kind of pizza.

3) If you want to be a glutton and spend some bucks there are two churrascarias (maybe three?) within walking-distance of the Chicago Theatre and the loop. A real experience for those who haven't tried it (but if you've been to a good one in Brazil prepare to be somewhat underwhelmed in comparison).

Congratulations! I'm sure Detroit will be great. I'm excited about Chicago as I've always wanted to visit that city....kinda wish I had more than 2 nights to spend, but my other vacation plans are pretty well set. Thanks for the tips on the food
Sorry you won't be able to join us for either pizza or Irish food or......but I'm sure you will have a great time in Detroit.

Wow, second Chicago show, isn't that the bees knees, lol.
Yeah to everyone who couldn't get tickets for the 5th.
I'd be a sad woman if I'd not found ours.

I don't know if I missed the presale date already, but to anyone interested, I have always thrown back tickets over and over, generally up to 45 minutes, to get really good seats. Always, it's like our ticketmaster mojo or something. Best available, no specified anything.
So not saying it is worth the gamble, but it's how we ended up in the second row main floor on the isle instead of the very back very left of the balcony...*ahem* nosebleed seats.

I still haven't had time to ask my Irish authority about watering holes, but I am told from others that the food at Monk's is just ok, and I remember the beer selection seemed non-existent (am another very picky import beer drinker), so I think Emerald might be a good choice so far. WIll ask and see if there is something a little less crowded with a little more ambiance, but it may just be my final thought as well.
Marie, thanks again for the incredibly generous offer of allowing fans to park in your neighborhood. We'll be driving down that day from Madison and I think that we will be hard pressed just to get there in time for a meet-up near the theater. Anne & I are hoping to meet you, Steve & Ann, & Alice plus any others who are interested. We can hardly wait. Even though this will be the 5th concert that we have seen, our enthusiasm has not abated.
Yes, thanks, looking forward to seeing everyone's eager faces. 5 LC shows? May I touch your hem respectively, lol?

I may have friends coming up the east coast, but they are staying downtown as well with their kids, we may possibly want to be near the venue early to show them some things, so the offer still stands for free safe hospitable parking for out-of-towners and meet up here with quality food and wine or cordials is still up in the air and would be aesthetically pleasing to all involved (and mugging-free, gotta love our little hamlet)---though we are a suburb, so yes, the driving from town to here back downtown is time consuming and I wouldn't recommend it without spending the night in the area. Very uncomplicated journey on HWY 55 for Chicagoland, yet a lot of time wasted and drinking and driving not recommended. We live in a historic village roughly ten-twelve miles from downtown, but this is Chicago, so it takes a while unless you are on the train, which is about 20 minutes to Union Station proper.

Will chime in with some more pub and eatery opinions in the next week--we're a bit wacky busy right now as St. Patty's Day approacheth! :D

Hey look, I wrote a book.

If anyone would like their Chicago pre-sale tickets now, as opposed to the night of the show, they are apparently available for pick up right now. I was able to pick up my pre-sale "Will Call" Tickets for both Chicago shows today at the Chicago Theatre box office. All they asked for was my ID and the credit card I used to purchase the tickets. Its nice to have the tickets in hand today and no worry about the stress of a Will Call line the night of the show.

Good idea for those living in Chicago....won't work for me. I did check on the Chicago theater website and the box office 'will call" is supposed to open at 2 PM on the day of the concert, at least that's 6 hrs to collect tickets before the show..

Yes, thanks for the info!

We are probably going to be taking the train in from Harvard so that we don't have to bother with parking since we won't be using a car anyway. The train from Harvard leaves at 9:35 AM or 1:35 PM-we'll probably take the early train so that we have plenty of time.

We can finalize the meet-up plans when we get a little closer to the day.

Leonard's management and AEG have decided that for all concerts in the US (and I am assuming Canada), the Forum members who have purchased tickets on the presale...with will-call tickets (we are the only ones with will-call), will have early access to the theatre. Jarkko will advise us venue by venue, but I think EVERY venue will open 1 1/2 to 2 hours ahead of concert time for the will-call fans to enter and pick up their tickets. The merchandise table will also be open....as will the bar/refreshment area. All this BEFORE the doors open for others who hold tickets! This will give Forum fans a time to purchase items ahead of the general public, but most importantly it will give us an opportunity to meet-up with other fans prior to the concerts!

The will-call was to ward off scalpers...and this extra is to give us time together! It's a win-win situation! Thank you Jarkko, AEG and Leonard!

All the best,
Diana
Hey all! Busy few weeks!

Just read through the thread about Forum members getting exclusive early entrance to the theatres. Not sure if this is happening here yet, but we will hopefully be downtown for the early opening time, and will have drinks/snack at the venue to avoid crowds at the merc. tables and lines, instead of eating elsewhere.

Cheers! Will give a heads up closer to the date.

Hey Chicago folks......Early entrance to the theater would be great, but I'm still interested in a early meet up....there are some of us who will be arriving late morning, early afternoon, and what better way to spend some time than meeting other L.C. fans...anyone else up for it?

I don't know what time we'll be getting into town but I am certain it will be early enough for a meet-up on Tuesday -- & we're staying over for the Wednesday show too...

As you know -- we're at the same hotel you are -- unless you swithched!

Looking forward to meeting you...

No ..I didn't switch hotels, but I did switch seats for May 5th. A friend of mine from Florida is crazy enough to fly up and back for one show so I sold him my original seat and dug deep into the piggy bank for a seat in row DD...I'm sure it will be worth every penny. I should be getting to the Embassy suites around noon, he'll arrive around 2....and then only 6 hours until showtime.
Keep in touch,...and we can coordinate meeting, cabs....etc....if the Box office information is correct, we might be able to pick up tickets even earlier than 6ish....
I'm looking forward to meeting you and your wife too.....

Hi all,
Anne & I will be arriving by train about 11:30 on May 5th. I'm not sure if we'll be able to check into our hotel yet, but will at least drop our luggage off there. Alice & Steve, I'll send you cell phone numbers so that we can get in touch.

Alice, congrats on the great seat! I was able to get a front row seat in Minneapolis-pretty thrilled by that.

Looking forward to seeing you soon.

I should be arriving (flying in about 2:30p.m.). I'm getting a rental car and driving from Ohare to a hotel close to the theatre. I haven't booked a hotel yet as I'm trying to do my homework on finding something reasonable. Most of the stuff is nearly $200. I found something 0.7 miles from the venue at $99 a night. I might do that... but I have more homework to do before a final decision.

I'd like to meet up with some of my fellow LC fans; where ever you guys end up meeting. I'm coming solo to this show from Southern California.
