regarding my pen

Post by Cate »

revised March 5 - 2008

Dear Pen;

November 20th, 2007

I’m using my husband’s pen today.
I’m not sure if it likes me;
I think it's heard ridiculous tales
of how I lost other pens.

November 22nd, 2007

Today it is I who does not like the pen,
it doesn’t glide smoothly over the body of the paper.
I’m afraid I may have a frigid pen.
I hope the words are not intimidated.

November 23

Come to me words, don’t be shy,
I’ll warm this pen for you, so that she will glide for you.
Be kind to her and her ink may flow better
let her stroke down your lines
let her fill out with your thoughts
let her be able to come to a point.

November 25

It’s not the point that matters,
It’s the rhythm, the pattern, the flow
the up, the down, the motion.
You see my pen is moving better now,
the ink flows well and is moving across my sheet.

Thank you words, you have been kind.

it's wonderful what will flow
from the hand
of poets
if you stroke
and warm again
before the snow sets in

tempt and beguile
and torture
across those sheets,
long enough for love
once again to
thaw

I had a wonderful romp with you poem Cate.
I loved it.

November 20th
you and your husband's pen
who has heard ridiculous tales
made me laugh

November 22nd
your melancholia and tenderness
reminded me of some similarities
between pens and coffee cups
warmth suits them
there's always one
that's just right and
they both bring comfort

Thanks for your AM pick-me-up, Cate.

Thank you Daka!
Daka was kind enough read this before for me, it was much easier presenting to an audience of one. Thank you for being so encouraging :)

I sit alone on cardboard throne
with mitts of torn tread
my boots they are a smiling
but the tongue it is not red

my friends they are a hopping
the others they are fed
from the crumbs of passing strangers
their words they are not said

Ive heard a simple message
that he will come again
and now i can believe it
cause its time to say amen
love is not forgotten......

Hi Jimbo, I've started collecting my favourite Haiku's from the forum, I'm going to tuck this in there. I know it's not a haiku, but to be honest my haiku collection is mostly a Jimbo collection :)

I'm not sure if he's coming
it's not within me to conceive
but I'm glad that you are praying
could you say an amen for me

Come sit with me a while
I'll make room upon my floor
Your torn mitts wont matter
your finger I will keep warm

But im sure that he is coming
he is already here
in the spirit of the future
which is already near

the world is not responding
the system is complete
so stop our endless killing
feed the beings at our feet
love is not forgotten......
