Poem For When All Else Fails



This is the poem I wrote

for when all else fails.

This is the window I opened

to allow to come in.

This is the cross I built

when I discovered your love of nails.

I came to your door to retrieve

the poem for when all else fails.


This is the highway I opened in your name

that carried you across to me.

This is the demon I brought to bear

when my options were limited.

This is the infant released from your loins;

listen to his wails.

I nearly died as I sat down to write

the poem for when all else fails.
