Let the great world, if it likes, run riot;
We will set up here in quiet.
It is a custom of old date
To make one's own small worlds within the great.
Let the great world
A lovely dream
A lovely dream once came to me
In which I saw an apple tree,
On which two lovely apples shine,
They beckon me, I start to climb.
Those little fruit you long for so
Just as in Eden long ago.
Joy runs through me, through and through;
My garden bears its apples too.
In which I saw an apple tree,
On which two lovely apples shine,
They beckon me, I start to climb.
Those little fruit you long for so
Just as in Eden long ago.
Joy runs through me, through and through;
My garden bears its apples too.
Johann...Your poem has inspired me to share with you one of those FW things you get in your email all the time. They get to be very overbearing, yet the one I got today was one of the best I've ever seen, and rather reminiscent in its own way of your first poem here, which I really like the feeling of..... I'll figure a way to get the other to you.

I have been considering your poem for the last 12 years, since you first posted it.
I can exclusively reveal that I have no comment.

I like the apple one - good that you've finally thought of what to say.

Then main reason I like it is the wonderful pun from "Lizzytish", about Apple puréety. Brilliant international wordplay and its a shame that she never posted again. Unless "Lizzytish" is actually Johnny/Johann Goldtish?
