I just read an article about Leonard Cohen in a magazine, which quotes him as saying that nothing rhymes with orange.
What did Leonard mean by this? Is the quote accurate?
The only reason I picked the magazine up was because Leonard's picture was on the front

Re: What did Leonard mean by nothing rhymes with orange?
I don't think Leonard said that. I know a lot of people do say that nothing rhymes with orange, but I think Leonard refuted that theory by saying that "doorhinge" rhymes with orange.

This topic was shortly discussed also in the recent BBC2 interview
(it's also printed in the July magazine of the WORD magazine (UK).

Although this joke has re-emerged in recent interviews, Leonard has used it before. I can rememember him saying it at least five years ago (possibly even ten).

He said in an interview with Laurie Brown of the CBC, "Door hinge rhymes with orange" she laughed, then he said, no quotes because I may have the words wrong, most people don't like that.

Thanks, its just that his words turned around in my mind.
The past is a burning light
She runs through your dream
Forever at the ends of empty streets at night
Restlessly through time
She wears flowers in her long red hair
Lost daughter of the Sun
She climbs the steps, her feet are bare
And leaves flowers for everything thats gone
Weary, cold, hungry, searching for love,
Shrouded in snow
Summer flowers in her hair
Which way did she go?
As the night starts to glow
The past is so strange
A sunset from long ago
Returning, burning Orange
The past is a burning light
She runs through your dream
Forever at the ends of empty streets at night
Restlessly through time
She wears flowers in her long red hair
Lost daughter of the Sun
She climbs the steps, her feet are bare
And leaves flowers for everything thats gone
Weary, cold, hungry, searching for love,

As the night starts to glow
The past is so strange
A sunset from long ago
Returning, burning Orange
