Leonard on UK Radio 2 Songwriters Friday 15th June 7pm

Post by Robin »

I listened to the 30 minute BBC Radio 2 broadcast "Patti Smith on Song Writing" at 7 pm last Friday.

At the end the announcer stated who was going to be on the programme in the next two weeks. Next week was some country singer but the week after will be "Leonard Cohen interviewed by Mark Ellen".

Interesting.

Mark Ellen is the editor of The Word magazine and I spotted him amongst the audience at the Anjani 'showcase' at The Cuckoo Club in London back in March.

Leonard Cohen... on songwriting(BBC R2)
He may be famously morose, but Leonard cohen has a sparkling wit. Here he explains to Mark Ellen how he come up with stunning songs like Hallelujah

I am always amazed at what empathy and patience LC has.
Marc Ellen interweaves songs that are obviously spliced in later to the
interview and generally are not experienced at the moment.
I am off with the music then have to go to the interview and
because the emotion is not singingly present I am some what jarred.

But otherwise I enjoyed LC's answers. What was it 80 verses to Hallelujah.
I would love to hear one CD with all 80.
All in all go listen.
