I don't know if it's particularily elegant of me to do that, but I'm going to quote here a post that someone wrote on dimeadozen (same someone who posted the Warsaw concerts there), because it intrigued me and I'd like to know if anyone has more info about that. Here is the post.
I was lucky to be in a room where Leonard promised to tour with a new album. The album is to be released later this year (LC with AT, not the other way round) and the tour is to start early in 2008. Cohen admitted that if there's little interest or a tour proper can't happen, he'll do at least Warsaw and Oslo. He lifted his right hand in the air and repeated "I promise" with a wicked smile. He called this a "Farewell Tour", and the journalist interviewing him asked "Farewell to what? To touring?" And Cohen smiled again and said "The Farewell to Touring Tour". Well, we'll have to wait and see...
I don't remember reading anything about an interview that sounded like that, but you are allowed to slap me if I missed it; I never get the time to read all the posts here! (maybe I should give up living and working in order to do that?!)

2008 concert?
Hey Laura, I vaguely recall that LC did say (in Oslo I think, or Warsaw) that his own tour will really happen after the new album. It was in one of the interviews, and this back-stage talk was quoted.

It was in great Spiegel interview:

In addition, last year you have finished a new book of poems - "Book of Longing"-, and a new extensive tour is planned for autumn. What keeps you going on?
Cohen: I have hardly begun with the new album. This will take some time. And, indeed, the tour is in the pipeline, but not yet confirmed. But you are right: to me it´s like working 24 hours a day.

Re: 2008 concert?
I read this as well on the dimeadozen page. It certainly would be wonderful; I've never had the opportunity to see him live, and I know IF he starts touring this will be my only chance. I might even go to warsaw if that's the only chance (I'm from Holland btw). But seeing him here in Amsterdam would be more comfortable though
.
edit:
If there will be a tour, I hope they announce it at least a few months before it starts. It wouldn't be the first time a concert would be sold out before the general public knows, after which you can buy tickets for double the price.

Re: 2008 concert?
Similar promises were heard also in Warsaw. According to the latest news the new album is not ready yet, so probably it will not be released this year. I'm sure we will be some of the first to know (and announce it) if all pieces hit the mark and he decides to go on tour next year.
