Rock and Roll Audit, Happy Birthday Lizzay
Rock and Roll Audit, Happy Birthday Lizzay
Here you go Lizzay, from your request...not the song I'm proudest of, but it probably was my biggest hit.
When I walked in the first day
Couldn't believe what I saw
There was loud music playing
And dancing on the floor
The auditors were boppin'
The controller too
The Supervisor said,
"Hey what's the matter with you?"
"You're on a Rock & Roll Audit
You're on a Rock & Roll Audit
You're on a Rock & Roll Audit
Rockin' and rollin' all the time."
The room was all in shambles
Workpapers everywhere
Instead of ticks and ties
Red and blue was in their hair
With pins through their noses
And studs along their belts
A band was in the front
Led by the manager himself
I'm on a Rock & Roll Audit
I'm on a Rock & Roll Audit
I'm on a Rock & Roll Audit
Rockin' and rollin' all the time.
I thought for sure they'd shape up
When the partner came to call
I couldn't believe it
When they didn't change at all
Although he looked much older
I knew something was wrong
When the partner grabbed a guitar
Played a funky dancing song
I'm on a Rock & Roll Audit
I'm on a Rock & Roll Audit
I'm on a Rock & Roll Audit
Rockin' and rollin' all the time.
After standing there in shock
And wondering what to do
I ripped off my white shirt
And began to boogie too
Didn't care about the work
Only in it for the fun
Why can't it always be like this
With nothing getting done?
I'm on a Rock & Roll Audit
I'm on a Rock & Roll Audit
I'm on a Rock & Roll Audit
Rockin' and rollin' all the time.

Good grief!! No wonder I didn't make it as a CPA!

Well, John... as for your other CPA/audit song, I don't know that I can picture Jarkko entering that room, ripping off his white shirt, and boogieing, either. As for your career success, I'm strongly suspecting choices in other directions

As for this one, there's fireman humour, policeman humour, social worker humour, and quite apparently, CPA humour

"Bankers Bring Better Dividends" ~ or something like that... your new bumper sticker

I'm adding this note because I edited this thread, after several years I finally remembered the third verse and so it now appears magically thanks to the power of the internets!

Hi John ~
A recycled birthday gift ~ how cool is that!?! I just happened to notice this, after I read and then scrolled past the slugs... just checking out a few more threads before closing out for the night... and here I am transported in time. And two years later... your song is still fun. The dignitaries visited our office today. I can't help but imagine them in the circumstances of your lyrics
.
Thanks for bringing it all back, John. Good closer for the night.

How does auditing look on a college transcript? I'm going to Marshall University this fall on an academic scholarship that requires me to keep at least a 3.5 gpa (3.8 is preferred). As such, I don't want to take more than 14-16 credit hours per semester. My schedule is pretty locked up with a science major/minor and a second minor in spanish, but I'd love to take some political science/sociology courses. How does it look on college transcripts if you audit lots and lots of courses? I mean, does it look bad, or does it just look like you were interested but didn't have the time?

Uhm, Hi aanensonex, and Welcome to the Forum
! I wondered how anyone could think that TODAY was my birthday, but I see you just grabbed a thread to ask your question. That's fine with me, I don't mind. Of course, it really does belong in the Everything Else section. You might get a broader readership there, too.
At today's college prices, the first thing I'd say it makes you appear is RICH
... that you can afford to take so many classes without being concerned about the credits.
For how it appears beyond that, maybe there are some people here who are in a hiring position that can comment. To me, it would look like you're interested in a lot of areas and have a broad base of knowledge because of all you're auditing.
It SOUNDS, though, as if you may be just starting in college. That's a heavy workload for a freshman and your courses can be challenging. Since so much depends on your GPA, my best suggestion would be to wait and see how you do in maintaining it. I wouldn't really consider auditing anything until you were a sophomore. Remember that part of the college experience is getting to know so many different types and kinds of people, so you may want to leave time for studying the courses you're taking for credit, time to spend meeting and doing things with others, and some down time just for yourself. Auditing can always come later, after you've learned what kind of routine works best for you.

This is the funniest response to something I've written, ever.
As someone who has been involved, either directly or as part of a team, in interviewing and hiring hundreds of people, I have never had anyone put on a resume classes they "audited". I would not consider that to be important to the education someone received, and actually I would look more poorly on the person for even bringing it up.
Not the answer you expect, but a truthful answer just the same.

Re: Rock and Roll Audit, Happy Birthday Lizzay
One of the things that I did when hiring people was to ask them what the approximate circumference of the planet Earth is. If they didn't know the answer off the top of their head I would see how many questions I had to ask them until they finally realized that they already knew enough to figure it out for themselves. I am sure anyone can. I was usually interested in knowing if they still remembered how to think after all that stupid education.
Everything being said to you is true; Imagine of what it is true.
