I remember that I promised you that I would always care
That the days would find me waiting here
For words from you to share
So I trust all tales I hear from you
'Cause my promises I keep
But no truth comes my way, dear friend
Your promises are weak

I guess the words were easier
For you to give than me
For somehow I feel words are things
Like eyes that help you see
And touch and feel the breath of those
Who dare to stop and listen
Not something less , oh no my friend
Cause something here is missing

I promised you that I would trust
And clear my eyes of tears
To see the sky and all life's gifts
To banish all my fears
But all I saw when I stood up
And my eyes began to dry
Was that you were gone with someone else
Leaving me alone to cry

So what was that promise I made to you
And you had made to me
Was it all a game to play with fools
Was it all it was meant to be ?
The game of hearts, on no my love
The damage's of great cost
For you only lost one promise, sir
But it's me that I have lost.

Go have your fun and play your game
Of promises to sell
I'll go alone as I planned before
And leave the place I fell
For I told you once that I had no choice
But to promise I might flee
I just can't believe that a man like you
Wouldn't promise truth to me
