Have caught a couple of enjoyable tunes by this band on XM radio, and wrote to verify that the name is Cohen inspired.

OT: You're a new band. Why "The Old Ceremony"?
Django: The band's name comes from the Leonard Cohen album New Skin for the Old Ceremony, which is a reference to circumcision, I believe. There's nothing like a good circumcision joke to break the ice-Lenny's a laugh riot.
Even better news for New Yorkers... They will be at Joe's Pub on February 23!

What channels do they play this band on? Is it the folk/world music channels (50, 76, 75, 77 & 15)? I have been listening to those a lot recently. Lots of Cohen on 15.

We get our feeds through Directv and they use different channel numbers.... It is the "Loft" channel, 50 I think, that we are enjoying very much ---
Loft plays this group plus Martha Wainwright, Teddy Thompson, and some other folks new but pleasant and great old stars (lots of Young and CSNY, Cockburn, Zevon, Dylan, etc.). Don't listen to it but think it is the channel for Dylan's hour.
Search says they play Cohen but so far not at our listening time.
What name do they give 15? What are your other favorites Madison?

The Loft is 50 (I think you are correct). 15 is called 'Folk Village'. 75, I think is 'Hear Music' (also its called the 'Starbucks' channel, whatever that means; maybe that's the music they play in all the Starbucks?).
77 is 'Audio Visons'. They play lots of instrumental new age stuff (Ravi Shankar, etc..).
76 is called 'Fine Tuning' its an eclectic mix of everything from Mozart to the Moody Blues. Good channel...

Geoff and Donna and Evelyn joined Linda and I for a very enjoyable concert by The Old Ceremony at Joe's last night.
Donna called it the best band she's heard in a long time. We all bought both cds and enjoyed chatting with Djanko and the other band members --- some very hot looking guys for you ladies
Some very good sounds recalling Nick Cave and Neil Young.... and a new song that sounds like it could be a Cohen lyric... "hearts were made to be broken."
Give them a try if they show up in your area -- tour inludes Nashville and some other cities... Brooklyn tonight (2/25).
