"Famous Blue Raincoat" a Colm Toibin short story

Post by Dem »

One of the short stories in Colm Toibin's book "Mothers and sons" is titled
"Famous Blue Raincoat":

Negation comes in literally in "Famous Blue Raincoat", a story steeped in Irish folk and rock music, Geldof and Bono and the manufactured sadness of Leonard Cohen (the title comes from one of his biggest hits), the story of a sometime-singer-turned-photographer, who dreads the impending demise of the dark room. Her son discovers her old records and transfers them onto CDs, thereby reviving dark, half-acknowledged memories of a talented, temperamental sister long buried.

Hmmm, sounds interesting book to read, I will look around for it. For some reason it made me think of a story I read a long time ago called "Empires of Azure" by Tanith Lee, where things start when she looks into a guy's blue eyes.........
