Nurtured on justice
A nebulous security blanket
Hard work brought reward
The world cared
Your future assured
Because you were honest
A hard worker
They had to want you
Nobody knew you
Or could vouch for you
The weight of your worth
Floated in a slush pile
Then came cynicism
It’s who you know
Money talks
No end to corruption
Withdrawal followed
Let them have the fleshiest bone
They don’t seem happy
Pressing ahead in flashy cars
Responsibility held you
You hung with the shitkickers
Stuck to your guns
Honest work with honest people
With time came despondence
Drawn from finding that
Hard work brought
Meagre reward
The view made you ill
At the top
Creeps and thieves held sway
You lowered your gaze
And dreamed
That the bottom feeders
Would plot the downfall
Of their masters
The justice you knew
From when you formed
Helped you endure
The monotony
Duped from day one
By what others call Karma
You could no longer tell
If we were all being had
Placated world wide
As docile as sheep
While the creeps and thieves
Lived in increasing luxury
You planted your seed
And raised children
Curing their nightmares
With an old security blanket
Blanket
Anne Frank
I have not read your diary
I have read little
But today I read this:
Duped from day one
By what others call Karma
You could no longer tell
If we were all being had
Placated world wide
As docile as sheep
While the creeps and thieves
Lived in increasing luxury
And I thought of Hitler
fucking his Eva
screaming at her
While they led you
to the 'showers'
And you screamed
for your life
But no one heard
And I tell my poet friend
that this is happening
today and tomorrow
That the 'creeps and thieves'
are still in control
their empires grow madly
as docile sheep
look;
then are content
with more grass...

Granty and Boss ~
These are a powerful one-two punch. I was very struck by yours, Granty... I got such clear images as I read each verse. It was like looking backwards through a crystal ball. I can really relate to it. Then came the various, other truths in yours, Boss... and envisioned all that you've portrayed.

I won't run with the bulls
Sewers bring out the rat in me
so I run with the roo
the media says
all the world shits, mate.
I won't live in their sewer
not all the world shits, mate
and I...?
I won't run with the sewer.
If it was a dropping here
a splat there
a dog-shit squelch underfoot
I could track and laugh
sniff out the cause
scent the odour
and hunt
for balance and meaning
but the media loves
to dish up shit, mate,
and I can't thrive in their sewer.
so I move on....
the bullshit is there mate,
but I run with the 'roos......

Did you hear
About the once powerful man
Who looks back at deeds done under him with regret
He can't change them now
Because he's retired
But he's full of good ideas
That he can't enact upon
Even the creeps and thieves
See the light in the end
Or are they balancing out their karma
Liked your comments, Adam. I'm grazing as I type, not grass but grapes.
Yours too, Lizzy. You're a calming influence on this forum.
Sometimes, Mat, it's hard to run in this shrinking world.

Thank you, Granty
. Not always and I immediately checked your "Joined:" date as soon as I read your post
; however, I really appreciate your comment and I am acting with greater intention in that direction.
I did listen to Bill Clinton speak and in that talk, he expressed explicit, serious regrets on how he handled Rawanda and said he apologized to them for not having stepped in, and then he talked about Bosnia in the same manner. It was clear that because he's retired, he was full of good ideas that couldn't be acted upon. He talked about North Korea, too... and how so many of their threats are borne out of deep desire to be acknowledged and taken seriously. At least he's still doing his part on the world scene, but I wish he was in a more powerful position with all that's going on now. No one's perfect [Gandhi and Mandela are two names that immediately spring to mind if I were forced to link names with that concept], but I got such a feeling of hope [that I have lacked for a number of years now] when I listened to him. I didn't feel he was trying to balance his karma, but rather truly cares.
