Have just been watching some videos I downloaded from Youtube. They show Peter,
Paul and Mary with John Denver singing at Washington peace march in 1971.
One of the songs is “Blowing in the wind”.
It struck me that now a days we don’t have any like these to forward our protests
against things that we think are unfair. And songs like those that were made in the
sixties aren’t made anymore. As I look back in a way I feel lucky to have been able
to have experienced those days and the music that was made.
Oh well, just some thoughts on a Saturday afternoon.
Protest songs
Neil Young and Bruce Springstein are still writing protest songs. You might also enjoy the political works of a younger artist named Stephan Smith.

The media isn't focusing on this kind of music as it did in the sixites but it's still out there. Go to WBAI.org and listen to Radio Unnameable or Democracy Now.
