Love's an unreasonable alibi
It's the reason why I drink and cry....

Phil, it's not good practice to post so many poems. If you want people to respond then reading one at a time makes a lot more sense. If you want to improve your writing then one at a time makes more sense. If you are posting a backlog of your work then you could have included several of these short pieces within one post. Anything that looks like a factory production is a turn-off.

Many of us are attracted to pithy lines or couplets but how often are they worth savouring? If you read your 2 lines, maybe you can imagine them in a song, different values and expectations within a song. But as poetry, I find it pretty meaningless. Maybe the sense is meant to be that we do foolish things when in love and then regret it afterwards.

If you present just 2 lines, they had better be really good! Otherwise they stand there exposed as very ordinary or even worse. If you are not posting from a backlog then take your idea, these 2 lines, and spend time and effort building a whole poem. There's no rush.

regards

When I saw the list of poems, I thought, "Boy, he's going to hear from Michael about this  !" I didn't expect it to be this heavy-handed, however :? .

These two lines are true enough, though :( ... and it would be interesting to see them in a larger context 8) .

i didn't realise there was rules about multi posts. I apologize to the forum police. I'll make sure I only post a couple at a time.

hey, that says something about either me or you (or maybe both of us) . I don't think my response was at all heavy-handed.

Why do you think it is true that love is an "unreasonable"alibi. It's the best excuse ever. If it is "unreasonable" just because it makes you drink and cry, they are not exactly terrible consequences, are they?

the mulit edits btw are my failed attempt the control the bold type.

Hi Phil, there are no such rules and I am sorry you have reacted in that way. Make as many posts as you wish and some will think as I do and others won't be bothered at all. You will also be pleased to learn that we have no forum police to arrest anyone for offences against good writing either.
