I listened to one of the recent interviews with Leonard and noted that Hallelujah was supposed to be the most covered song. Actually it isn’t. It’s the third, and has long way to go to pass Suzanne.
Here are today’s standings:
Suzanne – 145 cover versions
Bird on a/the wire – 96
Hallelujah - 83
Dance me to the end of love – 57
Famous blue raincoat – 56
Suzanne is still # 1 in cover listings
Jarkko,
Does this Hallelujah-cover count?

Found it on eBay, it says:
ONE TRACK SINGLE, PRINTED IN ISRAEL ONLY, AS A LIMITED EDITION SINGLE TO THE DJ'S ONLY. NOAM PELED sung HALLELUJAH , it was only one from many songs on project of LEONARD COHEN SONGS SUNG IN HEBREW, the cd project finally never released (only 2-3 copies avaliable...)and this is the only souvenir from it, also made in 200 copies only, made with no cover, only original cd plus a press kit.
It isn't listed yet on your covers page.
Bye,
Maarten

The policy of the cover lists is that only albums and singles that are
"manucaftured" (and not just burned!) and in some way officially released are included. Looks like this single meets these requirements, so I listed it. - This song was made for the Hebrew Cohen tribute by top artists in Israel. They recorded and mastered all the tracks but failed to ask for permission in advance, and Sony Israel denied their right to release it. Now we only have the album on CDR, downloaded from a website in 2005.

What a shame. If only, if only, if only they could have found the heart to have granted de facto permission. Is there any ~ any ~ possibility of 'politics' being a part of this decision? The perfect language for Leonard's songs to be produced in for so many to hear in their native tongue; yet might there be objections to some of the content? Hence, "Sorry guys ~ no go.". . . and Sony Israel denied their right to release it.
