Poem J

Poem J:

Flaws

Tonight I am going to eat
my old love letters.
It’s a matter of revenge
they have a bitter taste.
When I think how we used to be together
in the study
in the lounge
in the dining room
and in the bathroom
The only floors in our
relationship, then
Were all blessed by our rolling
around on them
We even did it in the kitchen once
but now I bake
in the places where we used to play

Thanks,

Nice word play. If I'd thought of using the last two lines, I'd have written a pome around "Now I fake in the places where we used to play".

I can't exactly say why, but I absolutely loved this poem!
"For the captain had quitted the long drawn strife
And in far Simoree had taken a wife." (R Kipling)

Diane
maybe the writer rejected "fake" as far too obvious? (the Forum Firing Squad arrive to execute the Man who dared diss the winner)

maybe, because we all love lightweight flim-flam sometimes.

Nonsense. "B" was the first letter in the alphabet that produced a rhyming word, so you didn't even think of the word "fake".

now let me help you, "fake" would have been just a mere variation of "ache", each substituting a bodily feeling for some bodily action ("play") whereas the brilliance of the anonymous writer of this trivial piece subverted "place" and turned it into location. Well, I pay homage, I am dazzled, I offer my humble salute to this unknown soldier of poetry. Like many in real wars, it is the Generals and Field-Marshalls that take the glory, but you should investigate and examine some privates, Diane, yes they may automatically stand to attention in your prescence yet they may have more than you first realize.
