Billy Joel-My Lives Boxset
Billy Joel-My Lives Boxset
I just picked this up for only $34.99. Not bad for a 5 disc set of almost all unreleased or hard to find material! And one disc is a dvd!

Poetry is just the evidence of life. If your life is burning well, poetry is just the ash.

I grew up in Levittown and used to hang out at the Village Green, years after Billy did ("do you remember those days hanging out at the Village Green"). There were four Village Greens; East, North, South, and West, and the East was the one on Jerusalem Avenue, a few blocks from Hicksville where BJ grew up. I lived between the East and West, closest was the East but the West had better stores.jerry wrote:I just picked this up for only $34.99. Not bad for a 5 disc set of almost all unreleased material!

I was in a drugstore the other evening and "An Innocent Man" came over their sound system. I stopped to listen to it ~ one of my all-time favourites by Billy.
John ~ Which one did he hang out at?

Oh, here I go with that sign-on problem again
.
Jerry, that sounds great!! I will have to go check this out on Amazon. My amazon bill is going to end up being twice what it was before I joined this forum
.
John, that's interesting about The Village Green.
Lizzy, I adore Innocent Man. In fact I adore most of his songs. Billy Joel seems to have gone out of fashion these days. But what a songwriter.

Diane, and anyone else who shops online
cd's and dvd's are often cheaper at http://www.play.com and they don't charge for delivery like Amazon
We've been using them for a few years. Today I received Christy Moore's "Burning Times" from them.

Oh, Lizzy, is Linda L a computer person
? I am in need of a computer person.
Innocent Man, yes, powerful lyrics, and the way he reached those high notes ! I must go put some BJ on now...
Margaret, thanks for that ! I'll give that link a go perhaps for my christmas shopping, no point in throwing money away.
You must let us know what you think of Burning Times once you've had a listen...

this should be interesting. i'm a considerable billy joel fan. for instance, john, when you mentioned the village green i instantly thought of "scenes from an italian restaurant," which you quoted the lyric from.
lizzy, i work at a drugstore and they play that song all the time, along with "river of dreams," "honesty," "tell her about it," "uptown girl," "the longest time," and "don't ask me why." i don't believe i'm missing anything... haha, you can hear me singing the songs when they come on.

I see an excuse to list my fave Billy Joel songs:
Captain Jack (live version)
It's still rock and roll to me
Summer, highland falls
Sleeping with the television on (esp. cos it has my name in it
)
The downeaster Alexa
I don't want to be alone
All about soul
Interesting that out of the very few covers he's done, he chose to cover Leonard's Light as the Breeze...
Can't wait to hear the new boxed set
