Cherry Wood Door

The ice is thin on the
window pane
With the skeleton key in the
keyhole of the cherry wood door.
The room empty but for a feather
divinely settling on a wisp of air.
You expected me to find the key
And you’re now on your way
to wherever it is that
old poets rest.
