Rob Macmillan has died

Post by Diane1 »

Very sadly, last night I heard of the passing of Rob from Cardiff.

Living relatively close, I met up with Rob and Anne many, many times over the years. We shared being front and centre for the momentous LC appearance at The Big Chill festival. It was Rob who first told me about the WOMAD festival, which has since become an integral part of my life.

Rob would invariably wear a fedora to Cohen-related outings. The image below is of him attempting to coach me in the right moves when I had borrowed his hat - at an LC cover act in Cardiff a year or so ago.

Most recently, when we attended the Hallelujah movie back in September, Rob proudly showed me the photos of his and Anne's then very recent 50th wedding anniversary, in which they were each wearing a sweatshirt with the logo, 'There ain't no cure for love'. He told me about how they bonded all those years ago over LC's music, and had over 50 wonderful years together.

Hat off to YOU, Rob. Your noble and generous persona will be missed.

My deepest condolences to Anne and the rest of the family.

I didn't know Rob other than his on-line presence for many years among the Cohen group. I'm sorry that your friend has died. It seems you will have many fond memories to carry him in your heart. My condolences to his family and friends who will miss him so much. Thank you for posting this Diane.

We have got recently many sad news, and lost many members. Now Rob has left us.
The photo is from Berlin, the 2006 LC Event.

Rest in Peace, Rob

Rob was a great gentleman and though we only met a couple of times, Anne and I liked him very much. Rest in peace Rob and deep sympathy to your family and friends.

I was searching for something else here, and had to scroll back to read this in disbelief. Rob was such a lovely man. We connected conversationally a number of times. I'm so sorry that so soon after such a significant milestone of their marriage that Anne is now looking back and treasuring every precious memory of their many years together. Rob loved Anne immensely. My heart is with Anne and Rob's loving family and his/their friends in all of their loss. May you Rest In Peace, dear Rob. Thank you for posting this sad news, Diane, so we can at least express our condolences.
