A really beautiful version of everybody knows

Post by thad »

I am new to this forum so hello my name is thadius.
I have come here to share something which could be of interest to one or two people. I was at a gig a couple of months ago watching a friends band. The band on after them were called audioreader. They were pretty interesting, though largely uninspiring. Anyway midway through they played a version of everybody knows that i thought was really good. I signed up for their mailing list and then forgot about them until a couple of days ago when i received an e-mail from them and i decided to have a look on their site. when i did i found this version of everybody knows as an mp3. this time it really blew me away. I played it over and over and thought it is really beautiful. Unfortunately there other songs are all quite different and nowhere near as good.
Everybody knows is a strange song, it seems from the lyrics that it's very intense despite the humour in it. I always thought the song seemed darker than it ever came across when Leonard sung it. Anyway this band have really captured something in the song i really recomend a listen to anyone interested. I wanted to share it with someone and wasn't sure who with, and as the chances of this band ever releasing it or anything are probably none, i thought that if anyone might be interested it will probably be leonard fans.
Their website is a little confusing but if you go to the music section then latest music at the top window that opens you should find the song. THe website is http://www.audioreader.co.uk
PLease let me know by e-mail or on the messege board what you think, i'd be very interested.
Thad

Patrycja,

I checked it out for you, and I believe there is a Spanish cover version of "Suzanne".
I found the information on The Leonard Cohen Files ( http://www.leonardcohenfiles.com/ )

This is what I found:
Jordi "Toti" Soler made an album called "Liebeslied" in 1972, which is in Catalonian and released in Spain in 72.
Later he made "Cancons", released in Spain in 2000

Take a look at:
http://www.leonardcohenfiles.com/covlist.html and
http://www.leonardcohenfiles.com/test.html
for all the information.

I can't find more information on the internet, but I don't speak Spanish, so perhaps you will be able to locate the album...

Good luck and welcome to the forum,
Maarten

Hi Thad,

I haven't listend to it as yet, but I will now. See what happens when you post a link and say a few words about a LC song? A bunch of people listen and give their 2bits worth. Thanks.

Linda.

And, of course, welcome to the Forum!!
