'Sliding Into Thursday

Over the summer I looked carefully in my bed
But you were never there
I wondered if it was shyness
Or you weren’t well
But i concluded it was because
You are married now
Settled now
finally content
And because we have never met

I take the view that these are technical excuses
Unworthy of the woman i might love
(I can't be sure unless we ever meet)
Why take the risk of staying with your handsome rich faithful husband
(God, he sounds so dull)
What sort of dumb arrogance compels you
To exclude me from your life
Just cos you are happy in your ignorance and you have never even heard of me?


For the avoidance of doubt
We have never communicated in any way


This is not a cyber story
No emails have passed between us
No instawham
No watchitgoup app
Monogamy is your favourite wood
I am even thinking our telepathy has been all one way

So thanks for ruining my life
With your disgusting dull conventionality
And ive gone off you anyway
I have switched channels
