For a listen on YouTube:

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJOHuF ... rX-OkenhUA

Where you will also find a (noncommercial) rendition of “Other Writers” set to music.

If you think they are worth a purchase here are a couple of the available sources:

CDBaby (FLAC available, nice!): http://www.cdbaby.com/Artist/KyraAlana
iTunes: http://tinyurl.com/ng9tufk

They are also available through Amazon Music etc. etc.

I understand these won’t make the official “cover” list, as they are being released in digital format only, but hopefully some of you will find them enjoyable.

The longer story:

A couple of years ago I walked out-back of my house to find my (high-school aged at the time) daughter swinging on our old hand-made swing set in the woods with her friend, singing Suzanne and other songs by Leonard. It was a lovely scene. We are long-time friends of Joe Peters (musician and officially the world’s most likable man…) Joe is folk musician / singer-songwriter, who has released numerous albums recorded with, and produced by his collaborator, the more widely-know (and astonishing to behold in-concert) Michael Kelsey (winner of Guitarmageddon in 2004 IIRC).

I decided to get ahold of Joe and discuss the possibility of Kyra working with him on an album consisting of Leonard Cohen cover songs.

I originally saw that project as a possible way for my daughter to try working-through an onset of severe public-performance-anxiety (which started, as it does with so many outgoing and artistic youth, during her years in Middle-School), as well as a way for Joe’s own works to potentially find a wider audience. Unfortunately that project never saw completion, as at that time Joe had decided to soon-retire from the music business and spend more time with his Wife (who travels the world doing humanitarian work. Really.). We did, however, put in some studio time and eventually decided to go ahead and obtain the rights (mechanical license) to distribute the cover versions. While these version did not receive quite the “polish” we would have looked-for had we originally intended to release them (they represent around 3 hours of studio-time between them), we very much hope that Leonard’s fans will enjoy them. Since it costs only a few dollars more to release “everywhere” once the licensing groundwork has been completed, they are available on iTunes etc. etc.

Hope you enjoy them!

(Please consider leaving a positive comment for Kyra on YouTube. I believe that it would help her through her public-performance-anxiety, which is holding her back from performing.)

Since this isn’t the thread for discussion other music, I’ll put some links to Joe’s and Michael’s music in the correct thread: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=35930
