Ursa Minor’s Winter Song
Oh, the earth is fair,
The ice is there,
Winter is on the ground,
But I am only a starry bear
Trekking down the lonely years,
White-hot cold I circle round
Though stars are fair,
The snow is there,
Winter is on the ground,
I would I were an earthly bear
In some black cave, snug and sere,
And you beside me soft and round
While stars weep down their frozen light,
Breathing the last of our honeyed days
We’ll kiss a long good night,
We’ll fall asleep and that right sound,
Dreaming our dreams of summer bees
In the air and winter on the ground.
Poem #27
I have made a grave error and I appreciate Linda pointing this out. I thought that I had posted this poem, but I did not. I'm sorry that it took so long to discover this, but I wanted to correct the error as soon as possible.
The poem is very good and well worth waiting for.
