Thanks to Forum member Javier from Oviedo in Spain (where LC accepted the Prince of Asturias Award), who sold me the ticket that his wife could not use, I finally made it to a European concert of LC. We had very good seats in the fifth row right in front of Sharon Robinson and the Webb sisters.Needless to say it was phantastic. The audience was very attentive - no running around with drinks or food during the performances. What struck me most compared with the New York concerts in April of this year was in how many songs LC accompanied himself on guitar:Gypsy's Wife,Chelsea Hotel,Sisters of Mercy,Avalanche,The Partisan in addition to the usual Suzanne, Who by Fire, Bird on the Wire - it just went on and on.
I joined the rush to the stage during Take this Waltz and spent the encores just in front of the stage right before LC - it still did make a difference. In the end a kind roadie handed me a setlist - a perfect souvenir.

I've read several interviews with Javier Mas in which he commented that he felt many songs would be better with Leonard on guitar. Maybe Javier's been talking him 'round to that opinion.crista wrote:What struck me most compared with the New York concerts in April of this year was in how many songs LC accompanied himself on guitar:Gypsy's Wife,Chelsea Hotel,Sisters of Mercy,Avalanche,The Partisan in addition to the usual Suzanne, Who by Fire, Bird on the Wire - it just went on and on.
