Acoustic Strawbs

Post by Pete »

The Strawbs are still performing under the guise of the 'Acoustic Strawbs' and I had the great fortune to see them a few days ago.
Dave Cousins, Dave Lambert and Chas Cronk make up the trio and performed a superb set. I first saw the Strawbs 30+ years ago and this was nostalgia of the highest order.. although having said that, much of their material is from their 2 recent albums..'Baroque and Roll' and 'Deja Fou'.. the former being a true acoustic Strawbs album whilst the latter is one they produced last year with the original line-up.

and when they announced that they were going to sing a song that they havent performed for 30+years, 'the antiques suite', I thought I'd died and gone to heaven !!

They are off to the States and Canada in a few days time and then doing more dates back here. if you are a Strawbs fan then try to see them..or at least get either of the afore-mentioned cds .. especially Baroque and Roll.

Just thought I'd share this with you :)

we wuz robbed!!

That was my first visit to watch Coventry City since I moved away and they go and lose... in the 91st minute... with a lucky, lucky goal by QPR from a player who was offside and had to rely on the ball gently hitting the post and rebounding back off the goalkeeper before trickling 2cm over the line before being hastily gathered by the keeper as though nothing untoward had happened.

I shall not eat humble pie on this... or even lemon pie :)
