Anna Calvi's instrumental cover of Joan Of Arc for The Tate

Post by UrPal »

I'm a little surprised that Anna Calvi has been so little mentioned on this forum to date.

She is one of the most promising singer-songwriters of her generation - and is also influenced to some extent by Leonard Cohen (her first album's song titles include Suzanne & I and I'll Be Your Man although the songs are very much her own).

She also wears Elvis, Orbison and Piaf on her sleeve, but also takes a cue from David Lynch and other non-musical artists.

This is her instrumental version of Joan Of Arc recently performed on film for Tate Britain:

She sings too!
