There are no islands unmapped
Nor territories yet to conquer
to celebrate their naming
in the silence of shackled primitives

And the stars and planets remain
perpetually beyond the reach
of this human machinery

The journeys of discovery outstanding
Await within the depths of oceans
the hidden channels through the reefs
the core beneath the crust of habit
beneath the heart of artifice

The darkness, every silent suffering
The voids of uncharted consciousness
without a berth or foothold for the travelling

Here at base camp we remain
here I lay my plans for interrogation
and prepare for penetration

Come now, under night sky, come again
Bear the charts to my humanity
in your razor-edged canoes
to navigate my depths and swells
my Master and Commander

Spread this ocean before You
upon the eagle's wheel
and with your sextant and your heel
now discover me.
