Hi all

I just thought I'd comment that every year our publicly funded radio station the CBC has what is called "Canada Reads". Five Canadian 'luminaries' are picked to pick their favourite Canadian book. What follows is each person giving their reasons as to why their choice should be the winner. This year Rufus Wainwright

(so nice-yet so unaccessable) oh, yeah, Rufus will be fighting the good fight for Leonard's "Beautiful Losers". I don't know exactly which day this is taking place on, but the whole thing usually lasts a week and then they read the books that were chosen - reading the winning book last (I don't know if even the CBC can read Beautiful Losers without some 'careful editing'). When I come online tomorrow, I'll have the CBC in the background so I can get more details. I'd like to hear Rufus and how he can protect BL against all the other choices as in addition to fighting for your book you must, of course, give a bunch of good reasons why the other books don't deserve to take first place honours. Then there is a vote. Then the listeners vote. All VERY Democratic, esp. for public radio
