I slept in today, since I've not had a decent night's sleep in days.. and since I hoped it might give some clarity to my thoughts, etc.. only now I get up and find this nonsense, the analysis of which probably doesn't reward clear thinking. But such is the life of a fish lit critic, I guess.

.. now, I've heard of being born with a silver spoon in one's mouth, but never a dentist. I imagine then that the mother never flossed. This fact--oh, given she was married to a dentist who was just beside himself due to his wife's poor dental hygiene--which caused the poor man to just, well, leap in there [in the birth canal, I'm assuming] to try to give his newborn a leg up on the importance of dental hygiene, before his [rather annoyed wife, I should think--or, at least, at that point in time] could influence him [the newborn, I mean]. Imagine the dentist's surprise, though, when he realized that newborns don't even have any chompers yet (!)

I think this tale should illustrate something to us all. That I have no idea just what it should illustrate, is really not my field, and so I'm not sure I can be blamed in that regard. Yes, I've dabbled in psychological matters, but surely I've not the--actually, I'd have to say, downright mental illness, combined with a size-able cocaine habit [and yes, I refer to the downtrodden Dr. F.] [yet again] to really render an opinion here that history would either applaud or condemn, depending on the freudian interpretation of wind direction, at that particular moment in this critique.

[all the above is actually why I just hate academics]

Anyway.. [if I'm quoting him correctly].. not even Leonard has a secret chart to get us to the heart of this or any other matter. In so speaking, I'm not even sure why I'm attempting this at all, in fact. I have suggested before it's: well, because it was there.. but that tends to wear thin after the first half a dozen times or so. That said, I have nothing supporting anything I've said here whatsoever. On top of that, I see that catching up on sleep debt isn't all it's cracked up to be. [though it has more relevance than, say, the fiction of the importance of national debt when the country is being swindled left 'n right right in front of a bewildered-to-indifference public, who thought that paying one's taxes and minding one's own business would at least grant them a two car garage with some wilted lettuce to maybe dress up, come Saturday night]

.. okay, I think that about sums up this particular discussion.

Still on the lonely path to, if not enlightenment, then at least another decent night's sleep,

Dr. V. D. Flowers [specializing in comparative fishction] [as compared to what, though..] [who can say?]
