Doctors help patients recover with ancient Islamic music

Doctors have been helping patients recover – by playing them ancient Islamic music.

Medics claim the therapy can lower the heart rate, reduce blood pressure and help those patients who need to eat more – or less.

They use makam, a complex set of rules for composing melodies that is unique to classical Arabic and Turkish culture.
