Thank Ya Jesus

Post by geoff+evans »

Thank Ya Jesus

Thank ya Jesus - for all this shit
For family here today
But Christmas just aint fun no more
Since you went away

Thank ya Jesus - for no home
For my mistress and my wife
But they ran off with richer men
For a richer life

And thank ya Jesus – for no job
For bills I cannot pay
For that bad ass mother at my door
Taking things away

Oh thank ya Jesus - for God’s earth
For blue sky and for the sea
But man is pissing on them all
Cos energy aint free

So thank ya - Jesus for fuck all
There’s nothin left for me
Gonna leave this dying rock behind

And let my soul fly free

(Thanks Karren B for the advice xxx)

Oh I love this Gepff.
I imagine someone else was in the same or similar mood when he wrote the following;
From Failure Up

Can a man grow from the dead clod of failure
Some consoling flower
Something humble as a dandelion or a daisy,
Something to wear as a buttonhole in Heaven?
Under that flat, flat grief of defeat maybe
Hope is a seed.
Maybe this is what he was born for, this hour
Of hopelessness.
Maybe it is here he must search
In this hell of unfaith
Where no one has a purpose
Where the web of Meaning is broken threads
And one man looks at another in fear.
O God can a man find You when he lies with his face downwards
And his nose in the rubble that was his achievements?
Is the music playing behind the door of despair?
O God give us purpose

Thank you my friend for your kind words.
Those gems you've quoted are far more beautiful than I could ever write.
I'm just an uncouth, rough welshman,
full of lust n drink n passion for life
- and a saviour for my wife.

Liked the poem geoff...glad you decided to post it.

Some powerful and sometimes bitter words....maybe understandable in these current times we're in.

And don't worry, nothing would shock those of us that frequent this back room of the forum!

Love the Patrick Kavanagh quote lonndubh but then I do have a weakness for Irishmen!

Looks like you’ve been doing your homework Geoff!
In that case you’d know that I already have my hands full with a wayward monarch and a lot of sword polishing!

The terminology may be different, but you echo the frustration of so many, geoff.
