Kory & Rice, Leonard's legal team

Post by jarkko »

From Robert Kory:
Robert Kory has announced that he has named Michelle Rice as a partner in his
law firm. Effective January 1, 2011, the firm name is Kory & Rice,
LLP. "Michelle Rice is an extraordinary lawyer, and I am honored that she has
agreed to become my partner rather than go on to big firm practice," said Kory.
"No one on Leonard Cohen's legal team is more responsible and deserves more
credit than Michelle Rice in achieving the turn around during the dark days of
2005 and 2006 in the litigation against Lynch, Westin and Greenberg. Her
success against Lynch in retreiving Leonard's archives from Lynch as Lynch was
about to destroy them is an extraordinary achievement. "

New email addresses for Robert Kory and Michelle Rice are: rkory@koryrice.com
and mrice@koryrice.com.

Congratulations to Michelle. Robert's wording is generous as ever but it sounds as if she has been a very important part of the Kory team for a long time & let's hope we continue to reap the benefit from her involvement for a long time to come.

Congratulations, Michelle!
Such a good-intentioned and generous team you'll make.
I love how your names flow and look in print.

Concratulations! I will take this opportunity to thank Mr. Kory and his Company. I have to say, that Mr. Kory's Company did really an excellent Job. He takes the concerns from the fans really seriously. He always answer to our Mails (and who am I? A little nobody from Switzerland, who loves Leonard; just a Fan, who loves the Work of Leonard and is also interested in his Way). Mr. KOry ans hes employees are so very kind. I remember, when Leonard was not feeling well in Spain, back in 2009. I was really shocked, and asked the Kory Management, what was goin' on. And sooner the Journalist have wrote about it, Mr. Korys Employees answer to me, to a singe little Fan from near Zürich.
I have noticed, that Michelle Rice did an excellent Job in the past. So I be sure, that the Kory-Management-Company will have a great future.
Thanks again for the huge Work, this is to all the Emploees of the Kory-Company.

Could it be that the Kory management could feel through the mails, that both of you Susanne and Uwe, are truly kind-hearted people?
Even though you may not play the guitar or sing ;-)

My prejudices against lawyers for once put aside, my appreciation to the Kory management for representing Leonard and for helping to organise the fantastic tour.

No, Damien Rice is Irish.
I guess it all started for me sometime around Christmas 1967 and now, goodness me, it's.........2018 and over fifty years later.
No one ever listens to me. I might as well be a Leonard Cohen record.

A few years ago, I wrote this to myself when assessing my sixtieth year. I only saw your note now, and thought that mine goes here too:
..., if I can be self-centered for a moment and share my most blissful moment of the year, it was reading "lovely" in response to something I wrote. I had sent a 75th birthday congratulatory note to Leonard Cohen, a hero of my youth whom I had just recently rediscovered, to the address of his manager. It simply had been necessary to express my admiration and gratitude, to put it on paper, while sending it off was done on the spur of the moment, maybe to share it with someone, certainly not expecting it to ever reach the person it honored nor a response. When an answer arrived, "Lovely, I will forward to him directly," though I knew even then that it was by an assistant of...to the assistant of... to the assistant of, I was floating on air the entire day. I had had a similar feeling of elation decades ago when one of my professors commented in similar fashion about my opening paragraphs on a term paper about the Viennese Revolution of 1848. Moments that made me happy!...
