24/96 Songs from the Road

This question might seem "foreign" to some, but it's about the resolution of "Songs from the Road."

I have the CD of "Songs from the Road" and, by default of the format, it's 16-bit/44.1kHz.

I just bought the Blu-ray of it and on there is a 24-bit/96kHz PCM track.

My questions is if there's a 24/96 music-only cut available somewhere. It's bound NOT to be on any disc format, and it's probably only going to be available for download. But is anyone offering it?

Hi DS, welcome to the forum!

Your best bet is probably to lift the audio track off of the Blu-ray that you already own.

The other audiophile option is to buy the vinyl version of "Songs From the Road". If you decide to go that route just remember that you are buying a vinyl pressing of a digital recording (the tour's audio rig, as we all saw, was digital).

I figured that it was probably recorded digitally and at 24/96. I really, really hope they release for download a 24/96 version. HDTracks.com specializes in providing it or, of course, they can.

The problem with lifting is that you get the video's gaps, which are longer than the album I believe. I'd just like to see them offer this 24/96 as a one-shot deal as I don't like simply grabbing the PCM track out -- but if that's the only option . . .

Leonard's music would be IDEAL in high-res. I listen to 24-96 and 24-192 of other musicians -- it is simply transporting if the engineering is good.
