I think we need to introduce general gossip or joke threads, the trouble is we all take life too seriously we need to treat the board as a general mine of useless and useful information and just converse about life in general.

Well, Insanitor of Fiji ~ Didn't you know that it's our foremost responsibility to entertain ourselves, and not rely on others for it? I've never been too sure how I've felt about the saying that, "Those who get bored are boring," but I'm not saying that about you. Soooooo.........say something witty, spicey, and entertaining

The 'times' are a bit sobering for me, so I don't mind. I also don't mind seriousness. So, I have no complaints

. I also have restricted time here, so not much said/not said could affect the outcome. I only wish I had the luxury of being able to be here more

. I'd love to have the opportunity to be bored.

All things go in cycles, anyway. So, take heart and wait ~ sooner or later, something will spark and flame.

well...point taken. I suppose these ARE grim times indeed. You sure seem to write a lot of posts for someone with little time...you must be super efficient at typing.

I'm not from fiji, I'm in fiji...there is a difference. I'm bored because I am housebound.

What's some good gossip that isn't unnerving? Not much I suppose. I really liked the wedding in Denmark the other week and did you hear that Silvi next door is carrying on with Frederic from the french embassy?

I agree with you Paula...so HOW is life in general with you these days?

See now, there's the spark [see Partisan, above]; but, alas, no flame

. The high number of postings from me have been accumulated over time [very heavily weighted in the beginning]. They don't represent current input.

Ahh, okay....so where are you from? And what are you doing in Fiji? I guess I missed the posting that made the distinction between the two for you. Yes, being housebound can lead to boredom, especially if you're someone used to an active life outside of the house.

I wasn't aware of either of the gossip items you've mentioned. Can you give some details?

Ah, Partisan [returned as yourself ~ refreshing] ~ I guess it can be dripping with irony if you want it to be. How's that for a milk-toast response

A follow on from my day in the life of:-

Left home to find the police had blocked off the road as there had been a major accident (car and bike). The poor lad on the bike didn't make it.

Had to go all round the houses to get to the train station. The train was late. Some bloke was shouting abuse at a big lady who was apparently taking up more room on the seat than she was allocated. He got off the train and a junkie got on and walked up and down the carriages asking for money. Got to work, late!

Went down the chip shop lunch time for my chip roll, gherkin and diet coke to find a queue of about 50 people. I had to wait 15 minutes to be served.

I feel knacked and it is only 2:00 p.m and it is raining!!!! Am I boring anyone yet

OK, let's face it, life's boring in general, there is some enretainment now and then, but it means nothing, it comes and goes. Just sit in your room, do NOT complain, u'll be OK.

I agree Bee life is often boring apart from odd snippets of excitement/disruption. I am happy with my boring life and the odd snippets.

Lizzie I thought about that lad all the way to work and I was just so glad it wasn't gonna be a copper knocking my door to tell me that awful news. In the words of John Lennon "Life is what happens when you are busy making other plans".

The junkie is a regular it is a bit like "Groundhog Day" going to work. The abuser was an added extra. It stopped me reading the paper about other peoples life for a second, a bit of live entertainment then back to the paper. It is so true the world is a stage.

Will someone entral me with a snippet from a day in their life just so I know I am not the only one with a humdrum existence

Awoke with a start (have you noticed how many 'starts' there are around these days?) and leapt to the loo. Horrors, no bog roll, so stretching out I managed to grab hold of the cat. She's a lovely little old lady of a cat, but has remarkably sharp claws for a cat of her age. (have you noticed how many little old ladies have remarkably sharp claws as well?)
"Fetch!" I shouted at her and she went and brought me a copy of last night's 'Liverpool Echo,' which had a very interesting article about the spread of 'starts' and 'little old ladies with sharp claws.'
Notwithstanding, (well you can't when you're sitting on the loo can you?) I finished my ablusions, (the old ones with pink pom-poms and a slight lisp) and then ventured downstairs to 'warzone alpha.' (You may call it a kitchen) "Bring me my mead and porridge" I called to the wizzened old lady, what does, and "where's me tea?" I called as I took me to the outside eating area. (you may call it a back garden with roses) Anyway, Violet and the two Roses had already started their breakfasts with a flourish and accompanied by a loud chorus of semi-intoxicated cats from their owner, an alcoholic neighbour, on the other side of the fence. (There was a time when lots of locals used to sit on the fence, but since the second Iraq War, very few people actually sit on it anymore)
By the time I'd got to my second bowl of gruel, I'd solved all of the World's political problems and it was time for Matron to give me my colonic irrigation.
How was your day?????

not boring at all, cats and breakfast and all that, garden and roses,

I had the same, just without the cats. Life's the same everywhere- morning, than very soon the night comes. One has to wonder- what was the big fuss about ?

! When you consider life in a Zen monastery, and the benefits of calm and repetition, etc. vs. all that "interesting" can include, the curse holds so much unsaid. The ancient Chinese were so great with those kinds of things.
