Immortal Declarations
When you turn from me it only confirms
The truth of all that has been left unsaid;
Caught on your glare my pride must come to terms
With its unrav’ling like a spool of thread.
In languor condemn’d the bed is your vase
Whence the ground for wither’d petals equips
Love to alienate from their embrace
And bind the veil that quivers on your lips.
And from behind your shoulder lashes flare
To spell the names your timid fancies lack,
For pleasure unassuag’d be spoken where
Your nape spills down the center of your back.
But vuln’rable stem, your thirst for romance
In candor and repose must convalesce—
The hunger in its pulse serves to enhance
Your fragile beauty soil’d by my caress.
And far beyond the loss of innocence
You’ll teach me of your sadness guarding Lust,
Where ev’ry crime must see its recompense
And drink deep the wine of your pain unjust;
Where Rage, exhaustless, is training his eyes
To exclude ev'rything he could not kiss,
From the tumult of gooseflesh on your thighs
To the tongue at the mouth of your abyss—
That house of starving sensitivity
Shelters horrors manifold and thronging
Where the monstrous beast, Femininity,
Whimpers for its wounded sense of longing
And on the scent of musk between your breasts
Crawls to find the fresh coolness of its grave;
There upon your fragrant heartbeat it rests
For the wild desire it fail'd to enslave.
Like a contagion that takes a tir’d host
I float upon your pheromones perspir’d,
Compell’d to follow that beckoning ghost
Seeking salvation in your cure acquir’d;
This imperialist will discover,
As he walks blindfold into your praises,
How you hoard your sickness for a lover
As a weapon intimacy raises
Against the sun that threatens in the east
Of your darkness with commanding vi’lence—
Let the conversation of moans releas’d
Then assault the unrequited silence.
But should these rituals of surrender
Be perform’d in the ephemeral night,
Let the torch of my heart on your tender
Bruises set the world of passion alight.
The landscape of your body I impose
And found a new religion in its curves,
And from your neck maneuver to your toes:
A pilgrimage your clemency observes.
At your naked feet I kneel, unstable,
To nurse there in the deep gulf that conjoins
As a starless night below your navel,
Salivating upon your palsied loins.
Your velvet stomach coils at the zenith
In its wake of constellations explor’d—
As space is profound the mound of Venus
Is where pledges of honor are restor’d.
So lean on my reverence for your crutch:
I’ll chaperon your flesh to temptations—
Thirsty for your kiss, hungry for your touch
I make my immortal declarations.

And make it a part of you.
It will give you strength'

Re: Immortal Declarations
Teratogen, you've done it again…
The details of your poem, so vivid. Each word intensified as it is thrown into high relief, then illuminated as though lit by a full moon on a clear summer night, thus setting the world of passion alight twixt some unknown ephemeral night…
I like the poems rhyme completely.
Excellent.

Re: Immortal Declarations
Thank you, ladies.
I've always had a hard time trying to be sensuous when writing. It mostly used to turn out like dialogue from porn. Dirty, and vivid, but too direct--a massive void of emotion. I spent a very long time working on this one, maybe getting down a quattrain a day. In the end I did a major edit on a few lines and told myself it was time to just call it a finished product.
I enjoy doing my free-verse poems and have a few ideas in mind for some new ones of those, but pieces like these, and The Muse, and Infernus Rex are really labors of love. I mean that in more ways than one.
