Another Other Leonard Cohen Album

Yep, it's the sequel to Another Leonard Cohen Album. And, in keeping with the tradition of sequels, I've taken on a partner to do the heavy lifting: messalina79 is primarily responsible for the tracks chosen and for cleaning up the recordings themselves.
Also very much in line with the tradition of sequels, I have spared no expense – as long as it didn’t cost any money – to produce a spectacular video promo.
Oh, and Sylvie Simmons wrote the liner notes.
Heck, there's even a secret hidden track (don't tell anyone)

STUNNINGLY PERFECT cover for your new album! BEAUTIFUL presentation of that photo. I want it for my wall. Are you the one responsible for that, Allan?
Now, I'm off to watch your video promo.
Thank you so much for your collaboration, Allan, messalina79, and Sylvie Simmons! Such great work is produced on this site! Jarkko must be SO appreciative of all that so many bring here

Yep, the cut & paste cover art and the glib name are indeed the products of my own efforts, and I do appreciate the kind words. My primary contribution to the project, however, was signing up messalina79 and Sylvie Simmons, two especially talented individuals who were willing to work cheap (ie, for free), to select the music and write the commentary, respectively.lizzytysh wrote:STUNNINGLY PERFECT cover for your new album! Of course,it also helped that the performances were by Leonard Cohen.

Re: Another Other Leonard Cohen Album
Thanks for clarifying that. Great job on both
Finally had time to find and read Sylvie's liner notes
. What a really fine job she does with them and weren't you lucky to think of an offer she couldn't refute.
Wish I were able to download

Re: Another Other Leonard Cohen Album
Many thanks to all concerned. Some real and RARE rarities there. As an Irishman of a certain age and one who heard Kevin Barry sung regularly while I was growing up in the 50s, I was fascinated not at Leonard's cover, but that he covered it in the first place.
The liner notes say the song was peformed live in 1972. Do we know the venue. Anybody know where he came across this great old Irish rebel song?

Re: Another Other Leonard Cohen Album
Thank you to Allan & collaborators from me as well.
The discussion of Kevin Barry reminded me of the importance of "The People's Songbook" that had such a strong influence upon Leonard's youthful musical beginnings. Our dear departed friend, ~greg, was kind enough to provide a scan of the table of contents on his site: http://relay.twoshakesofalambstail.com/ ... g_book.jpg
It is interesting to note that several of the songs from "Other Songs of Leonard Cohen" appeared in this book, also. Despite Leonard's reluctance to take overt political stands, the beginnings of his musical background are strongly rooted in this tradition.
