Didn't think I'd post here again but had to share this one.
Not from the heart, from the soul!

If I Close My Eyes.

If I close my eyes, I think of you, the pain I cannot bear,
I long to feel your lips on mine, but you’re no longer there.
To feel your breath upon my neck, your kisses on my ear.
To feel your arms around my waist, to feel you draw me near.

If I listen in the darkness I think I hear you speak,
But it’s just imagination, and your company I seek.
To look into your loving eyes and hear you call my name.
You know I’d give my very soul to have you back again.

There are no words that can explain the pain I always feel.
A pain that rips right through my soul, the kind that will not heal.
A pain that comes from longing just to feel your touch again,
A yearning just to sense you, and to be as we were then.

The things we’d planned weren’t meant to be; we knew this from the start.
But it didn’t stop you loving me, and giving me your heart.
I knew that you were leaving but I couldn’t say goodbye
As God dished out his punishment and cruelly let you die…

I stood beside your graveside but I couldn't shed a tear,
My heart was slowly breaking and I thought someone would hear.
I tasted blood upon my lips I needed to feel pain,
I knew I had to stop myself from calling out your name…

I waited many hours till the mourners had all gone.
I’d listened to their morbid prayers and melancholy songs.
The wind cut through me like a knife; the punishment begins,
I knelt beside the blackened hole and threw my heart right in…

So keep it safe my darling I may need it back one day
To fill this empty shell you left the day you went away.
If God is so forgiving let him grant my only prayer
The next time that I close my eyes you really will be there!

(Love can't always be right and God can't always be Just)!

It felt as if your life had ended there too...thankfully not.
