..and this, with its jazzy tunes, is one of the best tributes so far (in my humble opinion)

This samples only give a snippet of the tunes, but from what I've listened to, it is very spare in it's arrangements. But then, LC songs do not need over-embellishment. I found FBR and TTW very close to LC feel. They all had jazzy overtones, but Waiting For the Miracle, with it's jazz treatment, became almost unrecognizable as an LC tune. Overall, an intelligent, well-thought out approach to LC's music.

And so it is. The fantastic merlins are indeed fantastic. Very inventive. Just dowloaded it yesterday evening after reading it here and have heard it 3 times already back to back. This is gonna get a lot of play. Every song is outstanding. Famous Blue raincoat really evokes the "music on Clinton street". Thanks for the info.

For good measure I downloaded the Klezmer Conservatory Band CD too (on adjacent thread) but have heard only snippets so far. That should be a masterpiece too. I have seen them in concert but did not know they did Dance me to the end of love.

I checked the samples of this and went to order it but it's £18+ on Amazon, will try elsewhere (I want the real cd, not a download - I always lose them). But I found a couple of songs on their Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/fantasticmerlins. Who By Fire is excellent. Breathes new life into LC. Haven't heard such an engaging musical arrangement for a cover since Teddy Thomson did a reggae Waiting for the Miracle at the Wilner tribute in Dublin. Look forward to hearing more. Muchas gracias!
