Life on Mars?

Post by George.Wright »

Now that it seems finally to be confirmed of the finding of water on mars, do the rest of the forum think this opens up the possibility of life ever existing there? Or at the very least increases the chances of life on other distant planets? Has the probe sighted Elvis?

Hi Georges ~

Tee-hee on Elvis. On your other query, I've never doubted there to be life elsewhere in the solar system.....or beyond it. It's only a matter of time and measure.

This should be explored further.
I suggest we send you two to investigate.
Don't feel you need to hurry back.

That's what scientists, astronomers, and astronauts are for, knoweth you not  ? I won't be going anywhere, so back to the drawing board, if you wish to continue to seek my exit :D . I suggest you invest your energies in more worthwhile endeavours, of course  . Since you have that kind of money lying around, however, just send me on a worldwide tour to meet in person all those kindly ones I've met here. It'll accomplish the same thing and much cheaper for you. When I return, you can start my itinerary all over [as by then I'll have met even more]. Many trips to be had, for that well over a million dollars it'll take you to get me aboard the next shuttle to Mars :D . I could do Earth travel, for the rest of my life, and you'd still have change to invest in others. Your ideas are so rarely practical.

Hairy Tick if we both went to Mars we would only be visiting you and your demons, in Circle Six. And as your demons are all you..........only yourself. I doubt you could take that.

Never mind Elvis, have they spotted Beagle2 yet, Talking of Elvis and the universe has anyone read Robert Rankin's Armageddon the musical, it's an hilarious take on our planet and why we are here. BTW Lizzy and George if you do get sent on that trip to Mars I'm coming with you I would love to go into space.

Wendy, this sounds like a Red Dwarf trip......as long as they play LC on the intercom!!!
Perhaps we could find the martian sunken city and generate oxygen like sweatynickers in Total Recall!!!
Anything is possible with LC behind us.

You're certainly welcome, as far as I'm concerned, Wendy. Heretic's picking up the tab, so what the hey......if it'll get me outta here, I'm sure he won't mind my having a traveling companion at his expense. Perhaps Ben Kelly might want to accompany Georges :D .

If you find the black hole that's been eating my time and the universe at the other side of it would you please let me know? I could really use that time now.

 Jo ~ I'll have to sort through and find my own first, but sure...perhaps we can lug it along behind us coming back, and let the whole Earth have its way with it.

To all I recommend the Ray Bradbury SF Novel "Martian Chronicles" He dealt with this subject most imaginatively in the 50's. As I said in another post he imagined the year 2004 as a tourist invasion. Maybe that's us. Someone suggested the life form on Mars may not be perceptible to our senses and may have dislodged our spacecraft.

WoW, Lightning....that's a very interesting suggestion/theory about the invisible life form impacting our [what must 'feel' like] "tourist invasion" ~ more than uncanny the synchronicity of events with a book written in the 50s. Are history and the future both planned?
