Summertime
Summertime
I´ve been quite surprised to find that there are some LC songs that never appeared on any LC-album. Summertime for instance that was recorded by Diana Ross and later by Roberta Flack. Now I´m not a great fan of those to be honest... does anyone know these recordings? And what about Way Down Deep recorded by Jennifer Warnes. Is it worth while searching for these songs?
Way Down Deep is on Jennifer Warnes' album The Well, which is a beautiful album that I think anyone who likes Leonard's music and has heard Jennifer backing him would enjoy. I don't know the other ones you mentioned.

Linmag: "Way Down Deep" is on Jennifer's album "The Hunter" (1992)
and not on the recent one (The Well).
Songs written (or co-written) by Leonard but not recorded by him are

That will teach me to post things on here when it's past my bed-time and I can't be bothered to go into the other room to check my facts. The recommendation stands, though, for either CD (or both)

"Summertime" as performed by Diana Ross is WONDERFULL song, although not for Leonard - I believe Sharon called Leonard for help with lyrics because it's close to Sharon's gospel/urban soul (as she's and Diana Ross are catherogized by allmusic.com) style. Anyway, Sharon wrote some more songs for Diane. You must know that I only heard Ross on radio, I never actually listened to her. And I was captured by this song and by her voice. I wonder is she usuaklly so good
Roberta Flack's cover is good in the way she imitates Diana, but in any case less succesfull. But still better than her horrorful version of "Suzanne".
