there is a land all a'curse
its this state of mind
i'd balk to find a worse
evil of its kind
this far off place called controversy
where all inhabitants are glum
and the poets don't sing of mercy
they've been rendered deaf and dumb
the words of love and nice
marooned out on the jetty
all stifled in a vice
the streams run with all petty
but in the corner a rose
i'd be privileged to call her kith
and shout till she knows
i love elizabeth
salut,
elazar
i love elizabeth
i love elizabeth
breathe deep and live
Dear Kith Elazar ~
Now that I know this affirming poem is for me, thank you so much. I am grateful and appreciate it very much.
I missed some things said to my detriment in my absence. So, when Makera PM'd me to welcome me home, she also said that you had a lovely surprise for me. When I read your poem, I had none of the previous context [for contrast], which this apparently stood against, so my mind went to your being in the land where muses are "a dime a dozen." I wanted it to be for me
, yet thought perhaps your "e" elizabeth might be the distinction between the "E" Elizabeth of me. I'd also forgotten your ee cummings' habit of non-capitalization [not that, that would have settled it, of course
].
How awkward, for both of us, were I to presumptuously thank you for your poem, only to find I'd placed you in the position
of having to explain it was for another woman, only recently met. Of course, I could anticipate your willingness to make it a "baker's dozen," and include me for this occasion, but what if you didn't think of that
? A dilemma I wanted to avoid, for both of us, so I PM'd you to confirm. As it turns out, apparently Makera was doing the same on my behalf, after I'd initially answered her with the above possibilities [thanks for your gesture, Makera].
All that said, it's very gracious and kind of you to coin these phrases, with your words of support. I consider it a privilege to call you 'kith' ~ a term Makera explained for me [thank you, Makera]. I agree with your commentary on the current state of affairs here, as well
. I will also take, if I may, your beautiful words to share with Helven
. Feel free to join us in St. Petersburg.
Thank you, again, for your beautiful poem, Elazar.
Love,
Elizabeth
