For Tinds- LC's Dublin hotel, (no-one else may read this)

Post by Lion of Lions »

I believe Leonard will be staying at the Chelsea Accommodation Hostel at 3 Charlemont St, Dublin, DUBLIN 2, Ireland, 00353 1 4750674

It is "directly opposite is a bus stop for local bus 41 to the airport. Situated on Lower Gardiner Street, close to Dublin city centre, the DART rail station, Bus Aerus terminal and only a short walk to the Temple Bar area".

http://wikimapia.org/3305997/Chelsea-Hostel

Leonard is quite a classy geezer and this sounds appropriately posh and upmarket for him.

Here are some of the better reviews of the Chelsea, copied from tripadvisor.com

1. I stayed in this hostel for three nights and was scared from the experience. The second night we were there, a drunk man staying in our room came in at midnight threatening us with violence and threw a bunk bed across the room. He was thankfully taken away by police. The third night we were there, there was a homeless man passed out in the kitchen. He was taken away by the ambulance. Had to sleep with one eye open the whole time we were there. Dirty and disgusting. Full of drug dealers and homeless drunks.

2. I stayed in this place a couple of months back. After coming back from a nearby bar I was greeted by the idiotic owners from Donegal who also thought they were Scottish. One idiot called Omar was jumping around the place throwing threatening abuse to everybody, he was obviously high on coke as his googly eyes were about to pop out of his ridiculously fat head. As for the accommodation, what can I say, disturbing in every sense. The place was like something from Schindler’s list but with colder showers. The owners should be charged with crimes against humanity.

3. A kind of a tourist attraction as it has "the worst toilet in Ireland" TM, even worse than the one in trainspotting. Laughable how much of a crack den it is. But this is why I go back every time. Just to prove that I can make it and survive these sort of conditions. If you're not a gambler at heart better skip this place and play it safe in a nice clean and cosy hostel somewhere else.

4. The worst place. The reception is aggressive and bad, very bad ways. Everything is disgusting here. Please don't stay here. There is only one shower for the entire hostel. For the prize of a night go to a nearby hostel, better than this. The head is a corrupt. F*ck the staff. The government of Ireland have to close this sh*t.

5. I stayed here in 1999, and I'm amazed to see that it's apparently still in business! Back then it was owned and run by a family from Donegal. Some of the comments I've read here recall familiar situations, like dirty loos and showers, thieves wandering into our dorm in the middle of the night to rob us while we slept, and random midnight raids by one of the owners looking for people who hadn't paid. Good location though, and I met some great people there.

6. What a dump. First, everyone smokes in the rooms, so when you wake up and discover you have a smoker's cough, now you know why. The other people are usually grunts who smoke and talk with the lights on at 5 am. The entire staff is Polish as well. So are 95% of the guests. Also, the kitchen is only open for 4hrs in the am and 5 at night. So if you're broke, better make ramen to spare. That reminds me, no plates or bowls are available. Admittedly, the kitchen is the cleanest part of the hostel, but the lights are dimmer so that's probably just an illusion. The bathroom currently has 1 working toilet, and 1 shower. My opinion of the staff is 50/50... some are cool, some aren't. I haven't met the owner, but apparently there is an old guy in the tv room who is his brother. Luckily I have mostly longtermers in my room... but they don't screen guests at all. I generally don't feel unsafe, the door is locked, and my room has a lock... which is loud as hell when everyone comes and goes at 4 am. It costs 15 euro per night, 20 on weekends... total ripoff, like everything else in Dublin. But they have room when Isaacs and Jacobs Hostels around the corner, decent, clean hostels mind you, are full. So if you're desperate, go for it. But if you're okay with it, it's probably better to stay in the airport terminal for a night.

A POEM FOR TINDERELLA

I don't mean to suggest that I loved you the best,
I can't keep track of each fool in Dublin.
I remember you well in the Chelsea Accommodation Hostel,
that's all, I have to rush 'cos my soup it is bubblin'.

Some scholars consider this is a minor Cohen work.

For example in his Annual Address to the Parlement du Canada Dr.Stephen Scobie declared "La plume de ma tante est sur le bureau de mon oncle".

Ira Nadel , Professor of English at the University of British Columbia, caused a public uproar when he confessed he had actually moved "la plume" when Sir Stephen wasn't looking.

As a result Lord Nadel was immediately excommunicated by King Stephen and the Pope. He also had his foreskin forcibly re-attached by a passing Chief Rabbi, leading to the release of Cohen's 1974 masterpiece, New Skin For The Old Ceremony

Tinds, "Is This What You Wanted"? (Track 1)

Have a great time at the "Chelsea Accommodation Hostel" (Track 2)

warm wishes

The Chelsea Accomodation Hostel.................... Wow Lion... let's hope no one else knows this important information.

My bus passes right past the front door. I saw the owner a few times. He looks like Lenin.............. if Lenin had drank with the bourgeousie more often and lost the pointy beard. A friend of mine stayed there once and really liked it. Said it just had this amazing Irish atmosphere, with the guinness stains on the walls, The Thin Lizzy poster curled at the edges where the blu-tac had come loose and the bin in the corner overflowing with take away cartons and crusty tissues.

Yeah I can see why Leonard would like this place.

After a New York hotel, this is luxury.

I won't tell him you gave me the information ok?

the Jack L tickets are on me.

As know one else is allowed read this thread... here is a special song for you that only you can hear :D

Quite a coincidence that 'la plume est sur le bureau' is the pic for the video, doncha think?

this is the reason why the forum must stay open. we have the chance to improve the poor lyrics of the original

I don't mean to suggest that I loved you the best,
I can't keep track of each fallen robin.
I remember you well in the Chelsea Hotel,
that's all, I don't even think of you that often.

After an amazing concert sitting in the fourth row ( I swear Leonard looked at me at one point)............... I walked down the quays in my silver sandles in the cold and rain... and headed for the Chelsea hostel ... just to offer Leonard a nightcap after all his hard work.
I asked the Lenin lookalike if he had arrived back from the gig yet? He asked me if i fancied a drink with him............. oh my god.. I overdid the swan makeover for the show!

I declined and pretended to be texting some imaginary person on my phone while drunks and layabouts and your usual sunday night crowds, entered the hostel for their bed for the night.
After hanging around till 1am... and fighting off a lot of weirdos, I realised that Lion should have sent me a pm as there are lots of nosy people on here that cannot resist reading someone elses messages.
Leonard must have got the word and changed his mind about staying there.

Ok Lion this time for fecks sake, please send me the details in a pm ok? No one has my password. you have 3 more days to let me know where he is.
