oh my gosh - seems strange, he wasn't very old.

I loved thriller when I was a kid, fraid I didn't care his later music but I certainly wore out that tape.
He was such a cute little kid.

According to the LA Times via CNN Michael Jackson is dead from a cardiac arrest. He was 50 years old. I have to say I am very saddened by that news.

Marsha I think it is true too. Very very sad. Just watching the news on the telly it is in the form of a tribute. It has now been confirmed

I loved his early energy but quickly dismissed him (in my mind) as someone with deep problems. How ironic that both he (still "young") and Farah Fawcett, who were icons in the in 70's and 80's died on the same day. May they both have found peace and solace from suffering.

I completely agree, Frisco. I felt very sorry for him. There never seemed to be much compassion beneath the exploitation and criticism heaped upon him.

Hope you are well Marsha, best to you.

Michael Jackson: the wonder boy who tried to remain a wonder boy until his wooden heart gave out. But, unlike Pinocchio, was denied the possibility of ever becoming a real boy. For showbiz giveth, and showbiz taketh away. So a man who never lived will live on through his music. One of life's great paradoxes.

That face. He looks like a goddamn space alien. I have wanted to cry all day. Even through shock. I have very fond memories. Very fond memories from my childhood. But through all that scandal when I was growing up, through all the crazy things he's said and done in the last few years of his life, I feel strange about the entire thing.

As a kid I watched Moonwalker EVERY DAY. My whole life as a kid growing up was Hulk Hogan, Nintendo, and Michael Jackson. Been in and out of various states of bewilderment and shock all day. I was never around to see Elvis go, wasn't just yet born when Lennon was shot, but I get to live through the sudden death of Michael Jackson. This is really wild.

Tetratogen - I don't feel the same sadness I felt when I heard John Lennon had died but that is because John Lennon was a part of my life from a very young age. I can totally understand people of your age who had his music in their life from a young age are probably feeling how us baby boomers felt about John Lennon sudden death.

On the plus side Ticketmaster will give me a full refund for my tickets  I was meant to be seeing him at the O2 in a few weeks time.

Faithfully I had a major crisis I booked MJ tickets for the 14th July and then Leonard's concert in Liverpool was announced for the same day. I sold those tickets on and had other tickets for August.

Then MJ cancelled the 14th July concert . It was not meant to be he was never going to make old bones.

Ah no no no! Not for this reason! I also go and see others on days when he performs. Gosh; we cannot be all over the planet with all these costs...!

No, I meant as you like Leonard Cohen AND Michael Jackson - that's completely different music!

THAT'S what I meant... :D
