vancouver loves leonard

i am having a morning coffee and thinking back on what an amazing show my friend and i witnessed at gm place last night. it has been about 15 years since i last saw mr cohen here in vancouver with his I'M YOUR MAN tour.
it is my feeling that this was the best concert yet. i could not help thinking about the britney spears tour that visited gm place a couple of weeks back. that young performer took the stage, sang two songs and walked off. she was gone for 45 minutes and then returned. in the meantime, some folks that had paid handsomely for the tickets, had left the venue.
in comparison, leonard started promptly at 8 last night. he sang and charmed the cohen-starved audience till quarter after nine. he then politely told the audience he would be back after a break. he returned and entertained the appreciative crowd until after 11 pm and a number of curtain calls. it was a love-in.
the performers were all amazingly skilled, the sound system, terrific. there was not a lot of wasted energy on the stage. we were just treated to his wonderful humour, poetry and music. pretty good for a seventy-five year old man. spears should take a page from his book. i hope it does not take another 15 years for him to return. we can't wait that long. after all, he IS OUR MAN.
